Microphones and electronics.. Any experts??

To make a long story short.. Im thinking about getting the Shure 577B for live use. Screaming and singing!
It is originally made for voice communications, but for several reasons I would like to use a mic like this.
I send my vocals through a slim phatty and 3 moogerfoogers, so distortion is a good thing. Not too much though..

My problem is the fact that I have no idea how it would handle loud singing/screaming.
The plug is different, so I probably have to change it..
Could I just change the plug and plug it into my interface??

If anyone has any pointers, Id appreciate it.

That is really, really cool. haha.

It's an absolutely ordinary dynamic mic (like, say, an SM58) from most points of view. The SM58 is the ubiquitous 'ball' mic you see everywhere (bars etc.) The 577B has an on/off switch, which is common enough on dynamics. No phantom power needed. It has lower impedance than an SM58 by about half, so it can drive a pretty long cable as these things go. The output (sensitivity) is just a bit less than the SM58, meaning it will be just a little quieter than the SM58, but since you plan to scream into it (haha) that's perfect.

Basically, nothing over 5KHz comes out of this mic. That's ok though, you don't want to scream into something with a hot high end anyway. Well, I wouldn't want to be there when you do anyhow.

There's nothing to know, really: just plug it into a mic input on the console, make sure phantom power is off, and adjust the trim so that you get a good signal out of it. easy squeezy. It's perfect for what you want to use it for.

This is a cool idea and you should do it.

If you're adventurous, maybe some difficult mods would be cool too:
-Replace the element in the mic with the element from a SM58 for more freq range
-Add MIDI functionality to the button. When you hold it down it could send a momentary CC to control a vocal effect or something... Like add distortion or delay or something.
