You know.. I thought I'd check out the Waldorf Largo... and
So.. I just bothered to check out the Waldorf Largo demo. I filled out my info on the Waldorf Website and I downloaded the installer. During the install I noticed two things.
A: This is not yet 64 bit.
B: That elicenser is overly aggressive stuff. Like pace or whatever. So I passed.
Its true.. Software companies do loose sales, if they make their license protect too aggressive! Native Instruments Service Center, and IK's Authorize are about as far from key file as I want to go.
Actually.. A great example is Nomad Factory.. I own a license to one of their mix packs. I forget which one, but I bought the license in 07, and their licenses can not be transferred. So now, five years later, and a couple of computers down the road.. I'm out my money.. I refuse to install pace on this brand new computer of mine. Obviously, I will never shop at Nomad Factory again.
But even funnier is recently, I bought Z3ta 2.0, without even thinking about it. Sugar-bytes! One of my favorite plug in companies. Ableton, Renoise, Reaper! All the software I am using, has very reasonable license protection schemes!
I understand, its very important for software makers, to know who their paying customers are. Its also important for paying customers to use the software they pay for, without interference of a crazy protection scheme.

Yeah the copy protection on the Largo definitely kept me away. Another bad one is fxpansion, you have to pay $50 to transfer the license. I just recently got away from them. A good one though is Audio Damage, copy protection is just a serial number, no unlocks or anything and the license transfer is done by the owner in the owners account, no need to even bother with support.

So I take it, your synth squad is gone? I'm demoing synth squad right now. I'm not sure if its worth it. I saw you had it for sale... You were unhappy with it? What bothered you about it? Beside the transfer...
cheers

Its hard to describe but I didn't like the interface much, and the sound was ok on strobe and amber. I guess I really bought it for cypher as I liked the sound. One of those things where I didn't spend enough time with the demo and bought it on impulse. Once I bought Diva and ACE, DCAM sat around awhile and I got rid of it yesterday. But it comes down to personal preference so I don't really have anything helpful to add.

Hey that's all good. Hey, I followed you on tumblr yesterday.. mine's harmonickraze lol
I'm doing the Diva demo right now too. Dive and Synth Squad? Its a coin toss for sound quality, fatness, overall quality. Personal preference I totally agree.

For some strange reason, that doesn't suprise me.
