What is your favorite key to write in?
If you were thinking for live performance, not necessarily dance music, but just overall playing live. What do you think has the most excitement? Energy? Interest?

I find D minor to be the saddest of all keys.

D major/minor are my favorites, both for the sound and for ease of playing (on keys as well as guitar).
I love coming resolving to D.

A and E for realz. Everything I hear in my head is in A or E. It's really weird.

A minor because every singer tends to have that as their natural singing key, but I prefer Bb minor or G major.

D minor or G minor.
D minor for awesome melodies and G minor for awesome basslines.

I love the most to write in the white keys the most. They are perfect for fast music productions, and you don't hit the wrong (black) keys by accidentally. Either way you win with the whtei keys!
Star power!

I generally start with C or G, after that A. Major or minor, depends on the mood of the piece I'm working on. Eb can be cool. But really any key. Some are more of a challenge for me as a keyboard player but I like the challenge. Ditto on "whatever is most comfortable for the vocalist."
