Metronome 'Slowing Down' in Clip Recording

This is highly likely to be a dumb question since I'm 2 days into properly using Live and I'm not totally sure what I'm doing.

I'm trying to record a drum loop clip in session view, I hit the little circle in my Midi track and the clip starts recording with a count-in... all good; but then after a bar, whilst I'm still playing, the metronome seems to slow down and lose it's downbeat click.

So I tried creating a new clip first, then recording into it, I set the length to 4 bars, but again, after 1 bar the metronome slowed down and lost the downbeat.

Kinda hard to explain but I can't work out what's going on.

Anyone know what I've done wrong?!

Aha!

I had the loop set in arrange view so it was obviously messing with my clip recording!
