Well..., MG-1 is analog. Animoog is digital.
MG-1 is a very basic synth, but it has a genuine 24db moog filter.
Animoog can do lots of stuff, but it sounds digital.
I would save my money and buy a phatty.

I have an MG-1 and love it. I have Animoog and like it.
If you want filter sweeps and warm analog leads and basses, the MG-1 is great. But you're not going to get into any deeper programming with it. Also, after hearing the tone of the Phatty in person, I actually prefer my MG-1. I think it has something to do with it being 30 years old and slightly out of calibration. I've gotten so much mileage from it, and will probably never part with it. If I do, it will still be worth what I paid for it.
The Animoog is really fun too, but I haven't integrated any iOS apps into my production workflow. iPad apps are still just something I tinker with once and never open again.

1 vote for animoog here. It sounds pretty amazing and has a very cool interface with ios

I appreciate all of the responses but I'm not sure which way you guys are leaning, I'm pretty sure I don't want the phatty.
but this seller has the mg-1 and the new ipad animoog and is having me pick which one I want for the same price of $500
it's a good price I know, but I am unsure of which to choose.

I say go with the iPad. The sound of the MG-1 is probably better than Animoog, but there is a ton of other really cool music-related stuff you can do with the iPad.
Or hell, get both. hehe

Re: Concermate mg-1 OR Animoog/ipad for same price
$500 is the price of a new iPad with 1 year warranty, and Animoog is only a little bit more. Seems pretty stepp if that's second price.

I'm having a really bad case of deja vu from this thread.
Didn't this discussion happen already???

the ipad is new the seller got it as a gift but doesn't need it cause he already has one, it's not the base model either.Tarekith wrote:$500 is the price of a new iPad with 1 year warranty, and Animoog is only a little bit more. Seems pretty stepp if that's second price.
It seems like the ipad sounds better when i'm listening to it but then the mg1 sounds better when listening to it

Sounds to me like you just happen to have $500 and want to buy some new gear without any meaningful reason.. (haha, like most people do...)
If you try to figure out what you actually will be using this stuff for, you would probably be less confused.
Its like choosing between a Ford Mustang and a talking high-tech-super-computer-car..
There is no correct answer..

ouch Rabalder, my intentions initially were to get the synth but then my acquaintance received the second ipad as a gift.Rabalder wrote:Sounds to me like you just happen to have $500 and want to buy some new gear without any meaningful reason.. (haha, like most people do...)

I'm just looking for opinions, animoog looks and sounds quite fun but so does the mg-1.
