Live powercycles my USB powered MIDI keyboard during startup
Live powercycles my USB powered MIDI keyboard during startup
...therefore the keyboard is not recognized once the application has finished starting up (since it technically was connected only after Live has started).
PC, Live 8.2.8, Oxygen61. Has anyone heard of this before?

That's strange. I didn't had such a powercycle problem with my (blue) Oxygen61 so far (Windows 7 64bit, Live 8.2.x and 8.3).wayfinder wrote:...therefore the keyboard is not recognized once the application has finished starting up (since it technically was connected only after Live has started).

Did you already try one of the following things:
1) (re)install the driver (you can find the latest on the M-Audio webpage)
2) use another USB-port or USB-cable (it might be a faulty connection)
3) do you have other (USB-) Midi Controllers plugged in or do you only use the Oxygen?
I guess you're running Windows. Which version: XP, Windows 7, ...?

It may sound stupid but did you try another usb cable ? And with a power supply ?

I did try other cables, as short as possible (30cm), but to no avail. an external power source solves the problem apparently, i just don't get why it's worked before and now doesn't that adapter is another piece of gear to carry around

Weird...does it happen with all your usb ports ?

Does the same to my interface. At times I have to restart the software.

Not sure if it will work on you keyboard but works on my MK461 which had the same issue:
Plug in both usb cable and standard midi (assuming you have another device with midi in).
That way it gets its power from usb though goes into Live via midi. You can switch it on and off with Live running without needing to restart
saves using that wall-wart.

thanks everyone for your input. i ended up going the adapter route, just because it's easier overall.
on the plus side, i can now use an unpowered usb port, yay.

I have had this problem with low-powered USB hub under load from devices. Changing the hub fixed it, at least in that case.
Re: Live powercycles my USB powered MIDI keyboard during startup
I only have onboard USB available, so that's not an option (unless of course i buy a powered usb hub).Warrior Bob wrote:I have had this problem with low-powered USB hub under load from devices. Changing the hub fixed it, at least in that case.
BTW: the whole thing seems to be connected to network traffic somehow? I now put a Traktor Audio 2 on there (USB sound card), and when I start a youtube video, it loses power and the sound drops out. *sigh*
I checked for ICQ conflicts but there are no warning flags in the device manager. There are however two IRQs with double bindings. Which Microsoft's help site tells me is normal and okay. And can't be changed anyway, due to ACPI
