MOTU Track 16- isnt it the best design to date?

Seems they listen to what musicians want. How good it will work might be another story but as far as combination of functionality, ergonomics and aesthetics goes - the best I`ve seen till today.

Very interesting...6 more outputs and i'd buy it !
I like the idea of having all the connections separated with the main unit.

Agreed. I'm tempted by this as well. Thinking of selling my Fireface UC and my Central Station, buying one of these, and banking away the extra cash. I would miss the RME sound though, and the easy aux switching of the Central Station.

Been waiting for Apogee to come out with something like this, but if they did it would likely be twice as much, and I'd opt for the Track16 anyhow. Two inputs don't cut it. Give me ADAT I/O or I won't bite.

Seems like their answer to the duet but with way more I/O.

Looks good, they got it almost perfect. It really bugs me that the 1st guitar input is only available on the device itself. They should have allowed that to be on the breakout as well. Makes for a cleaner set up and you wouldn't be forced to use the front for cables if you need two guitars. Bit of a silly move, but otherwise looks great. Breakout box I think would also be better having all the connections at the rear rather than sticking out both sides. That's messy too.

Couldn't find a price anywhere, waddya reckon?

I've also been eyeing the 4pre, interested to see the price comparison.

The guitar input on the device doesn't bother me. I like the mini line input on the front too. An easy place to plug in Animoog.

Nice looking design indeed, maybe the best MOTU has come up with up until now.
Always liked MOTU, my old 828mkII never really failed on me.
But I like the design of my Apollo more and it sounds better

I will wait for Echo new USB cards before deciding - similar design, bit more compact. The Audiofire replacements release was to be in May but obviously there is delay and except for the Messe I have not seen any more info anywhere. Both MOTU and Echo are shamelessly Apogee "inspired", perhaps unfair but good for the users, specially that there are more features.

I was referring to the Apogee Duet 2. I wish Apogee had a compact interface that filled the gap between the Duet and the Ensemble. They don't, so I went with a Fireface UC the last time I upgraded my interface.

I'm seriously considering it. The main thing I'm thinking about is eventually having some sort of line in and ADAT dedicated device for my studio and just being able to plug in the 16 Track via ADAT for working in the studio etc. We'll see I already have a good system in place with Kore 1 as a live device, but yeah this thing would rule for studio and stage use, great choice for that.

That's pretty slick. Love the modularity.
For mobile use, just take the box. In the studio, ADAT it over to another interface.

Kinda looks like a bastard child of the duet and steinberg cmc or whatever.
Not as nice looking as propellerhead balance though.

Wonder what kind of latencies it'll be capable of. I'm routing my vocals via Live live, and at the moment I can go safely down to 109 samples (converts into approx 7ms) roundtrip on my RME multiface II with moderate set load, and I'm expecting my new interface to be at least as capable.

How have the drivers from MOTU usually been?

MOTU drivers are rock solid over here..has been for years ..
excellent quality. I can recommend every single hardware product of theirs that I used..
hmm..
I wonder when usb3 interfaces will be launched into the wild..
they should allow about 5Gbit/s transfer rate ( todays usb2 480Mbit/s ... )
