Finally finished my hardware live setup, which will replace my previous Ableton setup:

Image

- Nord Rack 3
- Elektron Octatrack
- Behringer ZMX8210 Ultrazone preamp
- MPC 1000
- Kaoss Pad Quad
- SM Pro Audio Q-Di
- DIY mixer with sends to the Kaoss Pad, send to the Octatrack and a cue output
- I often use the setup with my Novation SL mkll MIDI keyboard

Things are much funnier to me when there's no computer. Still using Ableton for recording, editing, mixing etc...

And here's my old and sexy cat with my new EP

I'm not so much into the Octatrack yet, but it does a lot of the same things to audio as Live, just without using a mouse. To me it feels more intuitive not to look at a screen all the time, I feel like I'm using my ears more than I did before :) And the step sequencer is awesome!

and what is the name of the skin?
thnx :)
Here's my Ableton LIVE skin.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1399581/theGREY.ask

The waveforms are 2 different Ms Pinky decks with floating windows, but the topmost one is rbrt23's Superlooper, yet I modified the GUI. I record loops into superlooper and play them back on Ms Pinky vinyl. The other device is Reaktor's Vectory, and the OTHER device is a special new device I have been trying to make that has 4 different LFO's. These can be spontaneously assigned to blue handed parameters by holding a button (i.e. LFO1, 2, 3, 4, or OFF.) and twisting the corresponding knob.
3 things bitwig can not do.
strange that people give bitwig so much credit over looks.
thanx for the skin,i like :)!!!!

@needaname: Dope setup! Is that an Alesis Ion? I'm considering buying one for my brother as his first synth, because the interface looks pretty nice. How do you feel about it?

It's awesome and it's one of the few synths who has "his sound", BUT, as a first synth I suggest you the GAIA, it's really intuitive and user-friendly - the panel is really clear for new users.

I have been considering the Gaia, but unfortunately it has too few keys, as he also wants to use the keyboard to control his Nord Stage (he is a pianist)

Well, so I think the ION is the best solution, the only other one I know with a long keyboard at this price is the Venom by M-Audio, or, if you want the top, Access Virus :D .
