I cannot believe how much Live crashes,,,, it's astounding!

Post by tintala » Mon Jun 18, 2012 9:59 pm

I am running w-7 64 bit.. Live crashes when I try to boot it and if it does open it crashes when I try to save or close it ....... this has been happening ever since I got Live ... Reason has never crashed.. They are solid,,,,,,,

What is it with Ableton ? Why is it so buggy and has soo many issues?? Even tech support won't respond. so I am left to vent here . REASON just came out with 6.5 and it's amazing it has never crashed once...... I get alot done in Reason. But When I want to use Live or Rewire, It;'s impossible to get anything done with this crappy software.
What do I need to do to use LIve?
I bought the upgrade to Suite the other day. and it's still crashing, I reinstalled Live, still crashing...... it crashes before it even boots!!!! I have about had it with this .and NO TECH SUPPORT ON CRASHES!!!!!!

$5 says all emails went to crashes@ableton.com and none to support@ableton.com inquiring about the crash reports sent in.

All the crashes I had were caused by dodgy vsts. Try to empty you vst folder to see how it goes. Win7+Ableton is rock stable here. It NEVER crashes.

Same here, the only crashes I have are from those stupid ASIO-drivers, seems to be kind of a misconception on the PC. :(

Reason never crashes because it doesn't run and 3rd party vsts

well running windows 8 and i've had one crash from an undo action. Even with XP i only had 13 crashes since Live 8 launched.

best advice is first update all drivers and vst's and defrag your hd.

although is it actually crashing freezing on launch? i know when Live can't find the same soundcard from your last session it struggles to launch and takes considerably longer, well for me anyway as i always change between different ones.

It might help if the OP listed some hardware specs. Soundcard info might help.

tweak a bit your windows7 and it will be a charm.
There's lot to see & read with a gentle google search.

Try optimizing windows 7 for audio for instance

Tweaking your OS settings is fine, but it shouldn't have anything to do with preventing Live crashes. As others have mentioned, the only times I've ever seen Live crash were VST related.

On win 7 64 home with live 8.27 komplete 6 reason 6.5 and everything works fairly well together.

Nothing is perfect but live has come along way from it's initial release

I'll upgrade to live 9 about 6 months after it's release when they start putting it on sale for upgrade

Try uninstalling BonziBUDDY first, and then run Live.
