Virtual Tape Machines is Here

Post by XSIMan » Thu Jun 28, 2012 1:06 am

Anyone tried it? I demoed it for the last three hours. it's rock solid on Live 8.3. It's fantastic for EDM music and heavy rock. Creates a 3d space and makes it less shy and more exciting more dynamics.

Studer A80 RC
Studer 827
Two types of tape.
Zillions of other settings. Some settings under the hood.

Yes the reels spin :P
It needs iLok2 but from the looks of the store page the version with an ilok included is only extra charge for the shipping cost. If you have any other Slate Digital Plugins you should of got a $50 off coupon code emailed to you.

Slate is responding to feedback and technical issues here http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-prod ... e-now.html

That's some real efficient use of screen space there.

Ableton could learn a thing or two from those guys.

Interesting! My personal tip for the small budget: TB ReelBus http://www.toneboosters.com/tb-reelbus/ - 15,-€ and it's yours. I think it sounds pretty amazing with high CPU efficiency.

I hope it gives less dynamics since that's what analog tape does 8)

maybe I used the wrong word but theirs more going on with difference between sounds hard to explain it.

For those with installation problems under Mac OSX 10.6.8, download and install this Apple software update as recommended for your OS to see if it resolves the issue.

Maybe because they spent over 15 months developing it using Howie Weinberg's Studer machines. It's far cheaper than UADs tape plugin and some are saying it is better. The free ilok is worth $45
If you dont try it you won't know what it's worth to you. Even the UAD forum loves it.

well it looks good... and I heard good things about Slate fx..
still think they're too pricey ..
I've never needed this plugin you see.. so it's not worth that much to me..
I'm sure they did a great job in emulating that machine..

"way cheaper" is a stretch, no? Also, the UAD forum thread seems to generally like the UAD Ampex better from what I've read.

Do you work for Steven in any way?
