Flush Obama
Flush Obama
That’s what was written in large letters on the back window of some dude’s truck I saw driving down the freeway. First off, that’s odd seeing something like that in the CA Bay Area. We love all Democrats here.
But I really have to wonder exactly what Obama did or didn’t do that caused the owner to lash out like that. Slapping a bumper sticker on is simple, but scrolling something out like that takes determination. I picture myself asking the person why they did that and could reasonably respond to everything they say with “and how is that Obama’s fault?” to which they wouldn’t have an intelligent answer. I could be wrong, but I see it going down that way.
I think love or hate the president, the general public thinks they singlehandedly have way more power than they actually do, and when their life is experiencing a down swing they just pin it all on the president.

typical of the kind of redneck bs we see everyday up here in Montucky (mt)

that truck probably belongs to someone who gets healthcare at some union rate that he hasn't had to think about the cost of since he took the job.
wait till he starts dating someone that works at Wal-Mart.
he'll be busting out a razor and a fresh bottle of shoe polish right after he finishes that free financial course on 12 cassettes or 8 CDs.

Exactly.
You've made some good anti-status quo government arguments on here for sure, but no president is more powerful than corporate interests and I doubt that will change any time soon. To think so or that the out of office party has your back is dumb.
Bush was a lot easier to hate on, but if I had to sit down and think of anything that he did that fucked me directly I would come up with nothing. So if I were to consider myself fucked, who fucked me? I did. Whether it's my lack of higher education or disinterest in rising through the company ranks, I didn't exhaust everything I'm capable of or is available to me only to plow into a government erected brick wall. And I'm willing to bet that anybody who would scroll "Flush Obama" on their vehicle is not much different than me in that respect.

Re: Flush Obama
Here is the thing i don't understand about the US and the hate for "Obama-care".. what exactly is wrong with access to cheap and reliable health care..?
Better yet, what is wrong with free health care?
Surly it is in all of everyones best interestes to have a healthy and well cared for society..?
I don't get it...
Here in NZ if we get sick, and it is an emergency we get to go get free health care..
If we need treatment for cancer,, we get it. FREE.
When we have babies every aspect is free, including health care for the kid until it is 16.
we have to pay a small fortune for dental care, and that pisses me off.
We do have to pay for initial Doctors visits.. and any kind of specialist consultation.
But if they do find something wrong, then the hospital follow up is free...
In some cases we have to sit on a waiting list.
We can jump that waiting list if we go private, and then we have to pay unless we have private health care.
But.. if the issue is critical.. treatment is FREE..
So wats up with that, why is the US so seemingly anti this..?
I'm not trolling, i'm genuinely interested...

Re: Flush Obama
whats wrong with it is that the people who are calling the shots in government DO HAVE free health care. their medical costs are covered for life. they tend to be wealthy anyway, and they can't fathom what it's like to have the burden over your head month to month and year to year...pulsoc wrote:It's crazy, especially when you consider how far a medicine dollar gets you in the USHomebelly wrote:Here is the thing i don't understand about the US and the hate for "Obama-care".. what exactly is wrong with access to cheap and reliable health care..?

medical costs are absurd in the US. a filing cabinet that costs 60 dollars costs 250 when purchased from a medical supply company. every little things cost 2 or 3 hundred percent more (at least) when purchased via a medical organization. its all about money and there is no care in health care in this country.

In Bellevue near Microsofts campus in Redmond on a freeway overpass a sign, Obama with a Hitler mustache calling for his impeachment.
I'm not a supporter of him simply because he hasn't slowed down the war and doesn't get that the government shouldn't have the right to lock up it's own or anybody else's citizens without due course of law, but in no way is he Hitler. Hitler was and always will be a far right politician, nothing the extreme right can say about other people's politics will change the fact that he was more like them than any other political branch.

Maybe not you, but even before he left office it was obvious that doubling the military budget and getting us involved in two wars, plus extending and encouraging the banks abilities to give out what amounts to fraudulent housing loans was going to be a mess. That most of the consequences were felt in the first two years of Obama's administration isn't of consequence, the shit had long since hit the fan. When you destroy property value and destroy people's ability to think of their home as a worthwhile investment you pretty much destroy the construction industry, thanks Bush! I've survived because I'm crafty, and oddly enough because Obama gave an 8K tax credit to first time home buyers which got me out of IRS debt. So though I'm not a supporter of Obama's war and human rights policies which I personally find deplorable, I'm not at all against his domestic spending policies or his health care bill.beats me wrote: Bush was a lot easier to hate on, but if I had to sit down and think of anything that he did that fucked me directly I would come up with nothing.

+1. Was in the trades and basically lost my income source as a painter working with developers, who went belly up. Thankfully reinvented my self as an RN. Make a little less $ initially, but the future and "career ladder" is brighter....Machinesworking wrote:In Bellevue near Microsofts campus in Redmond on a freeway overpass a sign, Obama with a Hitler mustache calling for his impeachment.

Re: Flush Obama
Flush Obama seems to be a common expression at the moment. Can't find a source for it's origins, but it sounds suspiciously like old school racism of the worst kind.
Please someone explain how I've got this wrong before I lose what little faith in progress I have left.
