Nice!
But not so nice: No MaxForLive support as of now, which means I can't/won't install the beta. Oh well.

False alarm. Did you check the links before posting?

rekkerd.org was pretty reliable in the past. We will see...

he meant the links to the 8.4 beta. they don't work. maybe rekkerd jumped the gun with the report.
looks like 64bit is coming though - as someone else on here noticed, the current beta 8.3.2 has "_32" in the filename.

I had what looked an ableton page for a min by following link, then lost it. Could have been fake I guess. On phone, so hard to check.

Rekkerd just replied to me on Twitter: "Ableton took the page down, it'll be ready later today so stay tuned

"
He seems pretty confident.

Oh good, thought I'd clicked on a nasty.
Sounds like someone bolted too soon.

Hmmmmm. Tasty rumour!
Do you think that (if this is proved to be true) this will mean Live 9 is not as near as many expect? Or is it a strategy to not bury the transition to 64 bit under the headline features of a new version?

Wont M4L run as a 32 bit app under a bridge of some type
Most 64 bit daws can run 32 bit plugs (there are still a few about I use like Imposcar 2), but I guess M4L is more fundimentaly intigrated.
I have Max 6 and M4L, probably run the 32 bit and the 64 bit (beta) when available!
DAW: Bitwig, Live, Studio One via an X32 desk: Instruments: modular and analogue stuff, guitars, basses and drums.

8.4 could be a paid update. Hope not. Would lead to moaning the likes of which we've never seen before. but Ableton did it before with the 5.2 update (universal binary update after the mac intel switchover).

This is very intriguing. Maybe Ableton wants to test the stability of 64 bit with Live 8 and iron out any problems before moving on to Live 9.

I'm certainly not paying for an update that, for now, is not compatible with MaxForLive, but I guess the number of MFL users compared to the number of Live only users is very low.
