I assume making jingles is more profitable than say 8-bit death core. What kinda music would you do if you did it only for the money? Doing film scores is probably a nice way to get paid. Ring tones... What else is there?

Of course, there's a wide range of jobs, but I doubt you are asking "How do I become Hans Zimmer" (whose life is probably both well paid and also rewarding).
If you are asking "how do I turn my musical skills into cash right now?" ... the answer for most of my friends was to either teach, or to become a session musician. Being a session player obviously requires living near one of the major world cities for that sort of thing (For us in the UK that meant London).

If there's one sure fire way to kill your muse it's to get her involved in churning out Justin Beiber ringtones on a harsh deadline, or making MIDI files of classical stuff for the Asian elevator market. Those sort of jobs should be avoided at all costs. Any of my friends who found themselves in those jobs aged ten years in about a month.

I think I might enjoy that.

I`d simply put Beethoven into melodyne, extract notes, and then extract cash. :P

Video games are very lucrative (seriously). The video game industry grosses more than all the music and movie businesses combined.

But I’d aim for the mobile game industry. Console and PC games take a ton of time and money to develop and I read a recent article where even the major console developers are questioning if it’s even worth it with more and more people more interested in playing games on their phone or tablets.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the music on some iOS games, right up there with console games or even movie soundtracks.

If you can't make your fortune with 8-bit death core, you'll never amount to anything. :)
