Reason rewire and external instrument racks

Post by pwdm » Sun Aug 19, 2012 11:17 am

I have been using Reason Adapted for Korg, rewired with Live. I have seen a few tutorials that state with reason there is a need for an midi and audio track.

But with Reason Adapted I can set the audio input into the External Instrument Rack.

My question is this still possible with Reason Essential?

Should be. I use the full version of reason and this is how I rewire as well.

Thanks for the answers folks.

I want to use reason as a instrument rack. This way I can over come the problem of recording automation in session mode.

Think I will try Essentials first, next pay day that is 8-)

Cheers

Hi Buddy :D

Best thing personally, is to save for Reason 6.5.as it has more features. But Essentials is,as said a cut down version of the same software.still very good mind you.

But be warned, those Rack extensions can be addictive, and can be expensive to own.Best to shop around for cheaper alternative VsT's,if you want to use them, via rewire.

As an example,I got a few month back Etch for $20 against €49 or something for the Rack extension version,he,he :D
Dell Optilplex 9010,Windows Pro 10 10 64 bit .16GB ram, Intel i5 3570 chip,@ 3'40GHz 4 cores
1TB SSD main drive, external drive 6TB SSD for various Kontakt libraries

I'm set on using Reasons Subtractor, as I want to focus on one synth for now. Its a good sounding machine and very stable which is perfect for my needs.

Also I don't want to use VST as you cannot record automation into clips.

Thanks

Are you sure? I was under the impression that you can not record VST automation.
