you're talking about "installation day"... {shivers}...
(don't forget to backup afterwards)

this warning is also missing from Lives' manage/fix Library options imo..

I swear to god that took a solid 8 hours. I was pretty drunk by the time it was finished.

yep...8 hours sounds about right... and yeah I was talking about the Library management options in Live..
I have around 40 Gb Library and it takes Live almost a whole day to scan through it...

about backup...
the Libraries can stay in place...
I put all of them on a separate hard drive next to the Live Library.. so I have all my samples in 1 place
(if you don't back up.. and keep the Libraries in place..
you'd have to reinstall them again...so they show up in 'service center'.. the installation references will be broken..meaning another fun day with Komplete day installer..)
what it helps you avoid is re-installing the software... downloading and install upgrades from NI... and configuring everything..
(in case of some computer catastrophe...or hd upgrade)
I've done this too many times to get wise and backup my OS drive right after installation...
specifically for Komplete...it's by far the most fearful of all installers ever made..
which is understandable as it's also the most impressive instrument pack available currently..
backing up saved me a couple of "installation days"...
just imagine you could get everything up and running in about 20 mins. and out of your way...
Live and other vsts included...

I do need to back up my DAW again since I am almost done installing (well, took some days off to get ready to do EIC 2 which will take awhile (not doing disc 2, don't see need for all session drum stuff atm) and it took me a good 5+ hrs installing K8 update....

I've always kept backups of my all my projects and my entire library, which has grown quite considerably now that Komplete is installed.

Side note: I really like browsing sounds in the standalone versions of NI's various units, and I absolutely love their browsers w/favourites etc (favourites sorely needed in Live! )

As far as backup, if you’re on a Mac why not just get an external drive and use Time Machine?

Is there any advantage to manually dragging things over to another drive from time to time?

PC here, but I really don't see much of a hassle with plugging in a hard drive and run a backup profile. Actually, I prefer this semi-manual approach; I've had incidents where I've wanted the older version of a file.

I backup and clone precisely to prevent from having to install K-8 and others....

Wow is it really that bad? All I have is Massive, Absynth, and FM8. Was thinking about getting the whole package, but idk. How big is it?
Anyone know any clubs you can get into when you're 15?
