What has your hometown unleashed musically?

Post by beats me » Sat Sep 01, 2012 2:00 am

I won't be a douche and stretch my hometown to 50 miles north to San Francisco. So within a 20 mile radius.

The Doobie Brothers
Smash Mouth
4 Non Blondes
Trapt

I started listing the good ones, then I gave up, and then I started listing them satirically, but there are freakishly far far too many for a small area like this.

They really like original music hereabouts. A few Buffalonians have had some success:

Alan and Neal Evans (Soulive)
Cannibal Corpse
10,000 Maniacs
Rick James
Snapcase
Joe Public
Grover Washington, Jr.
Bobby Millitello
Goo Goo Dolls
Bobby Previte
Every Time I Die
Spyro Gyra
Moe
Tommy Tedesco
Brian McKnight
Willie Nile
Billy Sheehan
Jim Hall
Harold Arlen
Ani DiFranco
Gary Mallaber
Corey Wells
Robert Moog (A New Yorker actually, but since the company was headquartered here for a long time people still feel proud to have adopted him)

Seattle, too many to list.

The middle of the woods festival scene here alone is unlike anything I've ever experienced.

Holy fuck, I almost think you're lying. That's quite an impressive list.

Tarekith,

List some shit, bro. And if Queensrÿche isn't on the list I will be highly disappointed. They were tail end of wrong time/wrong place.

Queensryche had a minor hit or two in 88-89, they're from Bellevue, not Seattle. Same with Nirvana, they're originally from Aberdeen.

Jimi Hendrix, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Heart, and Sir Mix a Lot are all Seattle bands that had huge success. Naming the bands from here that had a little success or made a decent career of it would take days. :)
