RMS in Live
Re: RMS in Live
Unless there is some hidden feature I have not discovered and even though it is written by Ableton that the meters show RMS values, Live's meters do not show RMS, they are Peak meters.
Re: RMS in Live
How did you get a Peak and an RMS value from Live's meters?

Re: RMS in Live
You don't, they're peak meters.
Re: RMS in Live
Thanks for the confirmation Tarekith. I was actually starting to wonder if I had missed something so obvious for so many years, lol

Re: RMS in Live
It also happens with the Brainwork Meter when measuring Dynamic Range. Probably differences in the algorithms and whatnot.
Re: RMS in Live
I could of sworn there was a way to switch between peak and RMS in Live, on the mixer somehow.

Re: RMS in Live
It may be whether they are measuring amplitude as two separate channels, or as stereo summed signal. That would account for a 3dB difference.

Wow, thanks, I would have never thought of that.invol wrote:It may be whether they are measuring amplitude as two separate channels, or as stereo summed signal. That would account for a 3dB difference.
