Hey, this was my first reaction too. But think just a few seconds : it's just one video amongst other. A part of a series... Nothing to worry about, for now !rchrdnsh wrote:was hoping for so much more on so many levels

Re: Live 9 looks meh.
It really just looks like they're going over what's new in terms of the plugins, I'm pretty sure there's a LOT more coming. If not... meh.
Re: Live 9 looks meh.
It's not the plugs that make me feel meh.
Although they're just playing catch-up with fab filter and other innovative companies.
It looks like from the video:
The UI remains dated and flat.
No retina support.
Same basic tool set on the top bar.
It's just preliminary, but after 3 to 4 years of waiting, I guess it would be hard to meet the expectations that many users will have.
so I'm still meh. Hopefully they come with a feature set that offsets the dated UI.
... hope...
...change...

Re: Live 9 looks meh.
What you dont like about the GUI?
I don't know why people can get along with minimalism and functionalism, it's like their minds are predispossed to like eyecandy.

Re: Live 9 looks meh.
you saw a short video. pretty naive to assume that it described all new features.

Re: Live 9 looks meh.
speaking strictly of the LOOK, the visual of the UI
i agree, looking more sterile than 8, less character
if everyone goes minimal, then by definition they will all look more and more alike

How in Satan's glorious name can you tell that from the video?rchrdnsh wrote: No retina support.
And even if it's not, keeping up with OS developments has always been a point update anyway.

I am from London - we don't say this here so they will probably just look at me blankly.
Mind you - they do that anyway...

Re: Live 9 looks meh.
im thinking its actually Yiddish (they got the best sayings), not 100% sure
Re: Live 9 looks meh.
hmm the gui is mehh sure its perfect for live usage, but for working in the studio its kind of oldfashion looking.
and amongs all the other daws live has the oldest gui imo.
and after looking thru the wishlist ... hmm i thought they are kidding? a convolution reverb as max4live device?
ill better stay with my IR based reverb i have now in use.
well and then i thought they improved the auto filter, overdrive and the bitcrusher - but kind of missed that too.
and that after 3-4 years now ... i was like <_</:CC
then i thought about some improved synths. well sure i have sylenth1, massive or whatever, but compared to other daws, ableton has weak inbuild synths.
(ive tried my best to get a great supersaw sound with operator or analog without burning my cpu when playing some chords - but yeah its not possible.)
what i really like that they finally added curved automation, improved the EQ8, new compressor ... looks pretty good ...
it was a hard way to find the forum on the new updated page - i just got google a change and the googled the forum link finally.
