New look Ableton website.

Post by googoo » Thu Oct 25, 2012 2:30 pm

Hi, I'm running Windows XP with IE8 and the new look of the Ableton website is all messed up for me. It looks like bits are missing/incomplete looking pages etc. I searched for this forum and on one link it looks like the good old one but if I go via the new Ableton website it's just a long list of questions with no menus etc. I've contacted support. Anyone else with the same specs as me having problems? Looking at installing Google Chrome. Recommended? Help. Please.

the new site looks very very strange for me on Win7 firefox.

I'm not sure whether it's just the design sensibilities of the designer don't match with mine, or it's actually broken. The colours are ... not complementary. :?

Is this how it is supposed to look?

baby blue, 100% cyan, lilac, Windows 98 blue, pale yellow with light blue text, and sand?
pretty weird.

You may note that Ableton are currently looking to hire web developers.

I guess the new design was a little bit rushed. Looks like they had to speed up the launch after the video about Live 9 leaked.
If that should really be the way how it should look from now on then it's a fail IMHO.

WAT?
Nobody is running IE. Or even mentioned it. Are you from the past?

Browsers I have installed - Safari, Opera, Firefox, Chrome, and IETester.

and im getteing a bunch of royal blue text in the forum here, improvement imo, better than grey on grey on grey

Guess opinions differ ... I really LOVE the new look! Big and beautiful pictures, pastel-like colours that don't scream at you and are easy to look at and a minimalistic approach to presenting everything. The time-line presentation (getting everything you need by just scrolling down) reminds me a lot of apple. (the forum's still a bit weird tough :p) Awesome work!

I don't care about the look of it - the navigation and pricing are a mess.

They should not have gone for a big bang - website, software release and hardware announcement in one go.

Amateurish.

I can only think that Ableton doesn't actually have a web design department. Just coders who say "I can do that, it's easy, a bit of markup and css I learned that over the weekend".

Next minute
