New look Ableton website.
Re: New look Ableton website.
The old site looked professional, and kinda had this cool modular look going on which sort of said "simple AND deep", something which perfectly represents Live imo, especially after the M4L marriage.
Sure the new site appeals to out-of-the-box creative types in some artsy kind of way, but honestly it breaks so many usability guidelines it's not even funny. The organization is awful, meaningful links to resources are gone or buried, and the endless vertical scrolling is horrible.

zactly zactly. It was that big of a debacle that it overshadows their release, not good for biz. Either one of two things; the release isn't exciting enough, or the site is THAT bad! Likely a combination of the two.Tone Deft wrote:^zactly.

I actually don't really care what they do with the website, but this forum is horrible with cream and white boxes, and links in royal blue.

Great thanks for the link, already tweeted her. She seems to be really proud of Ableton site.condra wrote:I actually don't really care what they do with the website, but this forum is horrible with cream and white boxes, and links in royal blue.
Re: New look Ableton website.
I remember when we recently discussed the old Ableton website, arguing pro and con the need for responsive design, and we all agreed that the Native Instrument website was worse no matter how you looked at it.
Ableton monitored the discussion, and thought "We can't be bested by NI again! At least not at being worst! Eat THIS!"

Yeah, I'm sorry to say guys, but the colours are unattractive at best, and possibly unreadable for people with bad eyesight. You have dark blue links on top of darker backgrounds which is very bad for readability.
I'm afraid to say that in my opinion your website looks amateurish. You have embraced a single responsive design that scales to fit mobile / ipad / desktop resolutions, this bit is fantastic, but the colour scheme is awful

New I had seen it before! Spot on.Angstrom wrote:Helloooo 1987
This logo actually works. But the new Ableton logo creates optical aliasing. This effect is some of the first things we learned about in graphic design school.
Re: New look Ableton website.
The forum color scheme is like baby vomit, please change.
Re: New look Ableton website.
Responsive web design should not dictate that the site has to have the same plain vertical information flow on every browser, just that the design changes to adapt ideally at different screen boundaries. GOOD responsive design should look optimal in each use case, desktop, phone, and tablet. It does not have to look bad-but-identical in each case. Honestly it defeats the point. The responsive part means the site shifts around to look IDEAL in each use case, not AVERAGE in all cases.
