You can upgrade without it and still enjoy 9 and probably even the step sequencer as I imagine that to be a device or a max for live device.
As far as I know, push step sequences notes directly into live clips, not a Max for Live device. Live clips are infinitely better sequencers than sequencer devices anyways.
Ok so this is not a problem then, we all do this with clips anyway with midi for drum racks and impulse etc.

Cool beans, Push seems like a nice way to get an (optional) visual/hands on experience for this though :D

Four times as many pads as Maschine too.

And four times the mouse usage....

Really? I got the impression from the video it moves away from using the mouse. Or are you being 'funny' ?

ouch I thought mine was bad I went from 259 to 194 to 299. I called the guys at Ableton and got some guy named Simon on the line who said he would speak with his supervisor and email me back. This was 2 weeks ago and I still have not heard back.

They are using the same marketing tactics that they learned from Persian Rug Salesmen...

Mine did the same (well, went to $209 actually, but close enough).

It is very interesting that I have two upgrade paths to Live Suite 9. One of them costs $209, and the other costs $399. The cheaper one actually delivers value to me today.

I own the whole suite (and max for live) so it would be 200Eur to upgrade, or less for a version of Ableton with Less

I am sad I will not get curved automation, but I'm not shelling 200 notes for that.

Not really bothered by the instruments I am not a big fan of the current ones really (except sampler, simpler and drum rack which do standard things), I prefer my VST's

I welcome newcomers on board though, a good intro price, eventually you get set in your ways lol, some producers still use C64's, a lot of guys still swear by Live 6-7. BUY it, plant your ass on it for the next 5 years lol, there's always a better "upgrade" path with a new skill like using Ozone 4, a good synth etc...

I currently have a Live 7 license. My current upgrade prices are:

$112 - Live 8 standard
$239 - Live 8 Boxed
$307 - Suite 8 standard
$359 - Suite 8 Boxed

My original offer was $201 for Suite 8, I should have bought it on the first day. :( I did open a support case with Ableton, I got the generic "sorry, we screwed up the pricing" email after about a week. Meh. Not a totally unreasonable upgrade price but it's a tough pill to swallow after being offered the upgrade for $201.

Q: If I purchase "Live 8 Full Box" today and register it, how much is the upgrade to "Live 8 Suite" (? boxed, DL ?) and will I qualify for a free upgrade to Live 9 Suite if I do buy the upgrade? TIA
