this says it. as did the last few posts.db2 wrote: I agree with the above post that the transactional parts of the site should instil user confidence. The new site may scream 'fun' but it certainly doesn't convey 'professional, reliable, sleek, minimal, elegant', all things that I associated Ableton with, along with a dose of fun mixed in.
i can see that they are working on it... and i'm sure the forum is quite large in terms of size... but this design is not even close to professional looking. it looks a mess, not like it was designed for teens but by teens... and no, not the gifted artist type.

Twitter is the place where 99.99% of the members aren't ableton Live's user. The official forum is the place where 99% of the members are ableton Live's user or people who are considering to buy their products, and have practically used the web site one or more times. I don't care which feedback ableton are trying to use as reference and considering valuable&accurate feedback, though.

after a few years of silence it seems this forum is 'on its own' , things escalate, all in good fun (from me anyhow)ze2be wrote: Most of this talk here is just for entertainment and community chit chat.
new logo - excellent imo , was the optical illusion intentional?
site - like how it works mostly, not the color scheme a'tall
forum - can't comment, i see grey with purple quote boxes

^ no, it's worse... mostly premeditated. he's claiming they did it all on purpose.

Re: New look Ableton website.
I don't think ANY previous iteration of the site...
brought on ANY reactions so negative if at all..
take it for what it's worth.
learn to accept criticism...I don't really care so much about the Ableton site...
I use this place to share my opinions...(and have a few laughs while I'm at it...)
I'm also one of the people helping to pay Lalos' salary...
by using Live.... teaching Live ... buying Ableton products ...
you can call me trolldot...
as for "feeding the trolls"...
them "trolls" are your "customers"...
and might have valid points regardless of their delivery
alienating your clients is not a good idea...(imo)
I suggest... that if Ableton employees finally decide to respond...
that they do so in a proper non-condescending way...
(to answer and try to help their clients).
if you're not going to be positive.. you better not respond at all..
you're causing damage to your company...
(and the new site causes enough damage as is)
right now...
mostly everyone here is thinking if they are the trolls Lalo had referenced...
and besides.. the points he made were irrelevant..
(when it comes to taste.. there is no wrong/right)
comparing forum users opinion to Twitter? do Twitter users come here daily ?
wrong move.
of course we all know that some Ableton employees monitor this place..
the usual (new in V8) way... of not responding... is insulting on it's own..
if you decide to respond.. don't try to prove the users wrong...
unless they make some horrible mistake that needs clarification.
it makes them think they are irrelevant to Abletons' process and/or growth.
we all know that's not true.
bottom line: the new site not as nice as the older sites...
that's all people were trying to convey (and have a few laughs while they're at it)
Personally... I think it's a bad site even in relations to other sites around.
even before the shades...it isn't intuitive.. downright confusing.
not trying to be negative...but...what can I say... I still don't like it.
obviously it's your site... do what you want with it! (we're just guests)

'troll' has become the most overused, cliche brush-off in the interwebs

@ 3dot agreed.

yeah all my friends on face book like my music too. [/sarcasm]
you have tweeters that are not originating (as in - coming over) from the forum... how do you know this? does funken monitor that for you?
or... do you mean that every negative tweet was about the forum with the exception of 2?
also... how do you make yourself part of the Ableton team? - a 2 year old account with no location, 1 post and a sig like this:
Sincerely,
Rupert

4. Apart from this thread, I have also kept a twitter search for “ableton site” since Thursday, and you might be surprised to learn the feedback we got was overwhelmingly positive. As in, there were exactly two negative tweets that did not originate from the forum.

Re: New look Ableton website.
Trolls are very popular in Nordic Cultures, maybe that's it?

Re: New look Ableton website.
Hopefully there will be an internal review that will inform their next redesign. My bet would be, from the looks of it, the design was signed off on by Ableton at various stages and executed/delivered some time ago. Now the team has to swallow the bitter pill of user feedback reality. In order to make that pill less bitter they will likely play up the tidbits of positive feedback, attempt to deny the swath of negative feedback (which is pretty much coming in unison waves, hard to do...) and try and move forward. It sucks when you've already ate and paid for the meal and are trying to tell yourself it was good and worth it as the indigestion and gas set in lol.
