Anyone else seen "American Pop"?
I thoroughly enjoyed this animated flick. Breezes over music movements in the US through its narrative.
Anyone else see this?
Anyone else see this?
Because Whatever.

Thankya Jesus.
Yea Heavy Metal is one of my all time favorites myself... (Hence why my next music project will have a name from it.)
but yea, I think rotoscoping died out too early. Gave such a great look to animation (for the time anyway)

Re: Anyone else seen "American Pop"?
I own the heavy metal vinyl album....though have not listened to it it in over 20 years
I see a lot of my own legacy in American pop....My mom dabbled in music, I tried to carry the torch further, and now I see in my children, the talents that despite my practicing for hours a day (back in the day), being in bands, inspired passionately about music, that come naturally to them in ways I just don't seem to have....
Although having been around music for over 20 years now, I see a lot of cause and effect of how fate can be twisted. It is great for those 0.1% who make it to the top, but many lives are forever altered by the calling and tragedy of not "making it in music". It took me until I was 35 to fully face the truth that I was not gonna be a star

I have both Ralph Bakshi's 'Fire And Ice' & 'Fritz The Cat' in my Netflix queue.
I've seen his 'Lord Of The Rings', 'Wizards, 'Heavy Traffic', & 'Fritz', but I'm not sure if I saw 'American Pop'. If I did it was a long time ago...

I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know if it's good, but it sounds like it's worth watching.

Here's a recent flick that uses rotoscoping:Mint Invader wrote:I think rotoscoping died out too early. Gave such a great look to animation (for the time anyway)

American Pop is awesome, great movie.
For more recent rotoscoping, check out Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly.

Saw them both, a long time ago.Mint Invader wrote:Oh ok, so no one.
How about "Heavy Metal"?
Heavy Metal was made at a time that seems so alien now.
The world has changed so much since then.

When I watch relatively recent "old" movies I frequently have the same response. I think: no internet, no cellphones, no personal computers...jasper wrote:Saw them both, a long time ago.Mint Invader wrote:Oh ok, so no one.
