Live 9 - Export as mp3?

having seen at least 14 threads and 2 or 3 thousand posts about it... i'd say there could be a licensing issue


but it would be cool... export to iTunes et al is a work around... when i wanna send someone a quick file in an email and say "does this not suck that much?" i'd rather just do it straight from Live.

in fact, email integration would be cool too.

you can export to sound cloud and email them a link.

Still no MP3 export in Live 9? Huh? If nothing else tell people to download LAME and Live finds it when the export window shows up. I know MP3 licensing costs money but there's a line to be drawn about being a cheapskate and providing export from a DAW.

Pretty sure this is because of licensing issues. Although the workaround is pretty straightforward.

Export from Ableton > Import into Audacity > Export MP3

audacity is free, but is somehow covering licencing? hmmm, does not compute

mp3 is essential for web-collab,wavs and certainly .als are just too heavy to throw ideas back and forth.. but im so used to doing conversion outside Live now its kinda w/e

Audiofile's new Triumph app is the same way. Licensing for mp3 export was too expensive, so they dropped support. WTF?

I said one option is to build MP3 export into Live and tell end users to install LAME so Ableton Live finds it.

Ah. Makes sense. Good suggestion. There could even be a preference to point to where you have LAME on your system that enables that option at Export.
