Auto root key mapping in Sampler
Ok, i've just downloaded this M1 piano samples http://www.failedmuso.com/blog/?p=431
And when i import it to sampler its automatically map root based on file name like M1_Piano_C1
But when i create my own samples and name it the same way, Sample don't map it automatically...What i'm doing wrong?
Thanks

Hmm, i've just renamed the files and it still auto map it right root key So its not about file names...could it be some meta data inside WAV file?

Yea that's how it's done. You can add your own if you have an app capable of adding meta data to audio files.ilya.soloviev wrote:..could it be some meta data inside WAV file?

Re: Auto root key mapping in Sampler
Hi!
I had the same problem in the middle of a class. I assumed Ableton's Sampler could do what Logic and Kontakt can do, read the file name and interpret the Root Key "Token". I also learned that we're not talking about metadata, but HEXadecimal data in the WAV file header. Mind blown again. The samples you downloaded have that data in the HEXadecimal code. The good news is that there are some clever people out there who have developed what I call HEX injectors. Bjoern Bojahr made a pretty handy program which injects the HEXadecimal code into the WAV file while using a GUI which is much easier to use than some sort of HEX viewer with no clear idea where that HEX string is.
Endless WAV from Bjoern is what I've used to inject my samples with the Root Key info and you can also inject loop points into the WAV file! It worked, but make sure your samples are not at 32-bit resolution.
