Problem with send/returns, have no idea what is happening!

Post by wahh » Sun Nov 04, 2012 9:48 pm

Okay so today when I was soloing the bass group track in a project, I noticed that there was some kind of echo effect going on, and I could not figure out what was going on.
After closer inspection, I figured out it was because of the return track sending back the signal with a short delay, but I had no idea why it was doing that because all I had was a compressor and eq on the return track, and it wasn't doing it for any of the other tracks that were being sent to this return. I'm using this return to apply some parallel compression.

I have 2 separate bass tracks, a high and sub bass grouped into a group track for generic processing such as compression, eq, harmonic enhancers etc, and the signal from this group track is being sent to a return track where it is being put through heavy compression and eq (scooping out the middle), before being sent back to the master. I also have my kick and snare track being sent to this return for parallel compression. There is nothing wrong with the kick or snare signal, ad it is being processed as it should, just adding extra weight and snappiness to it, but just for the bass track, the return signal is being heard with a 1/8 beat or so delay.. Does anybody have any idea why this would be happening? I really need to sort this out,

thank you in advance!

Try setting the audio from on the track with the delayed return to no input.

So I'm curious to know if that's a help or not. You made it sound urgent!

If you turn off the effects in the return track does it go away? Do you have delay (from the little D button) set to anything but 0 on your bass and return tracks? Try playing with those? I'll offer more ideas if I can think of anything else.
