Sampler : start, end, playing direction automatable

Post by lalo » Mon Nov 05, 2012 9:19 am

I wish having these three parameters automatable ( via standard midi learn system ).
Come one let's make Sampler a serious machine !
As it is now is not so powerful in terms of sample mangling...

Just use Simplers in a drum rack or instrument rack - I bought Sampler despite owning Kontakt and now I find that I only use Sampler for the pianos!

Simplers are only automatable via fixed midi CC no midi learn on it afaik...

um...I have mangled the shit out of samples with Sampler.

But I do agree on the thing about the Start,End,and Loop points can't be assigned to macros, etc.

yes please ableton

(more "fine detail" type improvements like this is what would best next for Live, what a difference something like this could make)

Huge +1

Please again....
I've been not buying Sampler for years now, for this specific reason.
MacBook Pro 13" Retina i7 2.8 GHz OS 10.13, L10.0.1, M4L.
MacStudio M1Max 32Go OS 12.3.1

control m - works fine for mapping sample start to a controller

If they just add timestretch into Simpler that would work.

Basically racks+Simpler are more powerful than Sampler already.

If you put timestretch into Simpler - job done.

Except for lfos, palindrome loops, and other stuff...

Simple has an lfo doesn't it?

What is a palindrome loop?

Will that be fixed with timestretch in Sampler?

I don't think Sampler currently can have separate amplitude envelopes although I may be wrong.

What I really dislike about Sampler is the way Ableton sell it.

There's the Henke and Thavius Beck videos where they show you it doing really funky sample start, sample end scanning and it sounds amazing.

And you assume that it's gonna have automation like everything else has in Live (which is excellent).

And then you try to do it and it's midi only and you're like "WTF?".

Didn't check for a while but i think that sampler has several lfos.
By 'palindrome' i mean back and forth.
And some other things are different, if i remember well.

Anyway, i totally agree, simpler in itself is a lot of fun and i love it !
