Re: Live 9 Beta Testers - What new features are you seeing?
+1All those 'small' improvements would be much more important for me (work flow wise) than "audio to midi" or another gate/EQ/compressor (which I already have enough of).
With that +1 it doesn't mean I'm "meh" about the new stuff that's known. I'm excited and just hoping after any buggy issues with the major stuff are smoothed over, their plan is "yes, we plan on addressing a bunch of little things".
Iirc there's a lot of additional things that came in between the 1st release of 8 and the latest one.

Actually Audio to MIDI for me pretty much sold it.

I don't expect anyone to break any NDAs they may be under so just stay silent if there is now per-object selection in arrange.

Live 9 64-bit needs a bit-bridge. End of. Even FL Studio has one.
Re: Live 9 Beta Testers - What new features are you seeing?
One awesome feature I just discovered is dragging a sample from the browser onto a MIDI track that already contains an instrument, such as Operator.
This automatically knows that you want to convert audio to MIDI.
Amazing feature IMO.

Another great feature, for people who love messing with clip envelopes ...
Clip envelopes are now linked to warp markers, and adjust accordingly.
In other words, you can move warp markers and audio, and your clip envelopes will still work on the same section of audio.
This is something easier observed than explained, but it's awesome!

Oh and The Glue Compressor genuinely does sound great.

The first rule of fight club, is that you're not supposed to talk about fight club. Yet.

Session View recording is a bit confuzing, but so incredibly powerful.
After using it for a while it kinda hits you... Session View automation is extremely powerful and adds so much dynamic xpression to your music. It's also very fun and addictive.
Operator now has Fixed Osc Freq as a modulation destination.. but no other changes.
EQ8 is amazing with built in Spectrum Analyzer. Once you use it like that for 10 minutes you will wonder how you ever lived without that feature.
Midi editing is now very fluid. Duplicate Loop feature will be very handy, and now we can move notes around without freely, and the only snap when they're near a quantize point... very cool indeed.
Also toggling between Draw Mode and normal "Selector Mode" is easier than ever, just press B. Better yet, you can slip into Draw Mode temporarily by holding down B, and you will return to normal mode when you release. Very clever and elegant.
The browser is not my cup of tea, but it's still in beta, so who knows. Actually, the workflow in Live 9 is greatly improved apart from the browser. Hopefully they refine it a bit more.
Lots of cool tweaks but Session View Automation is still the big one for me. For people doing IDM, Dubstep and Complextro, it's gonna take their stuff to a whole new level.
So far, it is a no brainer upgrade. Get your wallets out lads.

The browser is the biggest change for me day to day, but after a bit of getting used to I like it better than the old one. There's new skins now, most of the old ones are not in the current beta. Fine with me though, I love the monolake one.
The new eq and comps sound great, the adaptive Q on Eq8 sounds really smooth, and the Glue is more nuanced than I expected. The new icons and such at the top for things like session view automation recording take some getting used to. The back to arrange button disappears unless its needed, that thew me at first
