As white noise is generated randomly attacks are always different, you will probably reply that this is a good think to give some life to the drums… But I prefer to have every time the same sound. I tried to use the "Noise Looped" which I thought could probably solve my problem but unfortunately the "Noise looped" is more like a "Pink noise" which is less clear in high frequencies… So by "no random noise" I should have to say "static white noise" probably :-)
This can be done with sampled white noise, not a noise oscillator which should of course be random in many ways. So just record some noise and add it to whatever you want (you could use simpler for that).
BUT as already said by oddstep: FM is very easy to drive into noisy stuff. Just use one Osc with a very short decay and set the modulation rate high.
My English is not perfect, I know... Sorry about that.

P.S. to wishlist forum users: Please search for former requests. Otherwise they will be splitted into many small ones and we are loosing impact!!!

the only request i would make is to allow setting envelope times in beats rather than just milliseconds. I realise that the current system doesnt use linear time scales on the display, so you couldn't just stick down grid lines for 1/16th notes or whatever, but there could be some kind of snapping.

this is about the only thing i find annoying when im trying to setup looped / synced envelopes.

OP: 2009.

I think we had an Operator upgrade since then...

I think filtering between operators would be good. Especially for white noise !

It would be nice to have a pink noise generator for more natural-sounding soundscapes and the like.

Or is there one already and I just don't know how to do it?

This thread should really be in the Wishlist section, but I would also love any improvements to Operator.

I remember the learning curve with my yamaha tx-802.

It has lasted 6months of every day trials and errors before starting doing something good.
Ok you only have to use 4 major buttons [up - down - OK - cancel] to edit any parameter with no graphic help for enveloppe and so forth...
no fun really and I was near to let go this god damned fm synth for ages.
But then you start getting unique sounds, great textures, so you keep up.
I've found one free app that helps you design your sounds from a very well done graphic user interface.
but you cant use it in a daw and recording automation with it.
You cant even midi map some knobs to it.

So Imagine how I was happy for first steps with operator.
Doing thing in minutes comparing to hours with the real bastard.

I would only love to see 2 more oscillators and 32 algorythms.
Like the real one

operator is awesome. what i miss most personally while "keeping it simple" would be lfo phase/offset. find very sad to be constrained to fixed phase.
