Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
Hi - very new to Live (8)...for an app that started out as audio, the midi is exceptional.
I had a short audio track with 5 Warp Markers and applied Slice to New Midi Track, creating a new midi track containing 4 midi slices and each play their respective audio clip.
I want to be able to get these 4 midi slices into the Session View, as individual audio clips to trigger each of them from there.
How do I complete this last step?

Re: Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
You don't need slice to midi for this.
Go to the original audio clip in arrangement view. Place the cursor over the places you wish to slice and hit Ctrl+E (or CMD+E on a mac). This will split the audio. Once the audio is split into the four pieces you want, highlight all the clips, drag them to session view (or copy/ paste) and wa la. You're done.

Thanks. I should have guessed it would be via audio.
Is there a "Split At All Transients within Track/Selection Area" when there are many transient markers?

Yes, right click on the audio (with warp markers in place), choose Slice to MIDI track, and then Live will create a Drum Rack with each of the pieces sliced to their own MIDI Clip
Re: Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
but after that, I want to turn these midi slices into audio clips, so I can then trigger each in the session view

any particular reason why you want to do this?gwp99 wrote:but after that, I want to turn these midi slices into audio clips, so I can then trigger each in the session view

I have tried this but I don't get individual audio clips for each slice.funken wrote:...drag each chain into Clip Drop Area.
To clarify, where there is say, 4 Midi Clips resulting after "slicing to midi" and the Chain View lists Slice 1, Slice 2..., do you mean drag each "midi slice/clip" in the Chain View into a "Clip Slot" in the Session View of a new Audio Track?

Tom Cosm to the rescue. This should give you an idea of how to do it:

Which is to say, if you want to do it for more than 5 slices... Or n slices, where n is a number greater than would indicate a reasonable amount of manual labour. I have a live set with the mapping set up per Tom cosm's example.

Well, for me, I think this is the answer. Perhaps after working with Live for a while, I'll revisit this thread and see if I can make anymore headway.funken wrote:...Of course it's much easier to just chop it up in Arrange and drag the clips over.
Thanks to all for the replies.

Once you get the hang of the control-e it won't seem so bad at all!gwp99 wrote:Well, for me, I think this is the answer. Or Just highlight your audio in arrange and control -c.
Switch to session view using tab key and control v.

Re: Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
if you have Sampler:
'slice to new midi track' (slicing preset: slice to single Sampler)
then open the zone editor in the newly created Sampler, select all zones, and right-click > crop sample
that will create all your individual slices as separate audio files.
save the project and your files will be in the project's samples folder under /processed/crop

Re: Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
Why not after slice to MIDI you freeze the track? Shouldn't that create the audio clips and then you just need to find them (wherever your track/project is pointing to in a subfolder below that, forget what it gets named, recorded?)?

Cool idea, never thought of that. I can think of a bunch of other applications for this too.garyboozy wrote:if you have Sampler:
