Silent mouse

Post by gg_bristol » Tue Dec 11, 2012 5:49 pm

Weird query, but anybody had experience using a silent mouse in studio environment, and if so which one is decent? Getting frustrated by picking up the clicking sound from my current Logitech mouse when recording with my mic, and would love to find a better solution.

Any ideas?

move the mic

use a track pad - tap vs. click

seems like an almost inaudible low frequency tap vs. a mid-rangey audible click would be an improvement. if it were me i'd change the mouse before i switched from a condenser to a dynamic mic. i use my mic for vocals though... so, different strokes for different folks i guess.

Just curious, what requires you to click while you record and not click before or after recording?

^ i am wondering that too. there are very few controls and/or parameters i change during a recording... now, afterwards... that's way different. most of what i would change during a recording, if i actually wanted to, can be done from my controller (Remote Zero SL) so there is no sound for a mic to pick up. i suspect other controllers offer the same level of stealth.

All the clicking from my trackball drives me nuts too! :x

I will probably get an Apple Magic Trackpad.

I got the Logitech copy of the magic pad, the T650 rechargeable touchpad. Since I’m on PC no magic trackpad for me.
No more clicking!
I got to postpone a carpal tunnel syndrome, but I’m also happy with the silent operation.

Since it's Christmas maybe someone should do a remix of "Silent Night" called "Silent Mouse"

Silent Mouse, Holy Mouse, all is calm, all is bright.

I usually try to click in time to the music
"The banjo is the perfect instrument for the antisocial."

Cool. I'll keep an eye on that one. If only to be able to launch clips with my John Thomas.

Good find, cheers.
