ok, i've just been having a mess around in LIVE, pretty lifechanging software . so I just realized something thats missing.
i see that apparently you are now able to remote control a lot of the clip parameters, ( start, end, pitch, stretch) etc but only to one clip at a time per function ( meaning that if you wanted hands on clip control for all the loops in your set you 'd need a controller about a mile long)
so here's a suggestion, how about an addon called a clip grouper?????
as in you assign certain clips to this group that are controlled by the same clip parameters, assign the remotes once only ( to the clip grouper parameters) and hey presto, timestretch n pitch change, start n end points on like maybe 30 sounds at once.
ok question is, can anybody build one??????
or is there another way of doing this that i don't know about?
how about just multi assignable controllers???????
did anyone ever come across this
If you want to use something like the uc33e controller then this thread may be of interest regrading controlling multiple parameters...
Enjoy

for the clip parameters, I think you can manipulate more than one clip at a time. You only need do a multiple selection on the clips you want to control at the same time, i've been offsetting more than one track at a time with the nudge function, so i supose it will work too with start, end, loop position,etc...i see that apparently you are now able to remote control a lot of the clip parameters, ( start, end, pitch, stretch) etc but only to one clip at a time per function
cheers
cool envyro. As I understand, you can apply the same moves to multiple clips at once with one midi knob/wheel/button/etc. That is definitely better than being limited to a singular selected clip. However, for some creative mangling, it could be VERY useful to be able to have the midi assignments for clip view parameters be on a PER TRACK basis, not universal. By this I mean that you could assign one set of midi knobs to the clip view functions for track 1, another set of knobs assigned for clips on track 2, and so on. That way, you could seperately manipulate many clips on different tracks at once, using midi hardware that is assigned on a per track basis. This would allow one to really get freaky with clip functions if your set has lots of clips of individual instruments and individual drum sounds (i.e. non full-mix clips). Obviously, the way it has been introduced in 5, it is more geared toward DJ's and full-mix clips, where it makes sense to either only manipluate the selected clip, or manipulate all selected clips in the exact same way from one knob. It would be awesome to have the option to go from this global/universal behaviour in 5, to a per track midi assignment of clip functions to allow more variety and the individual tweaking of multiple clips at once. And, of course, the scrubbing needs to NOT be quantized by the global value....here's to version 6...

hi quandry
I agree with you, automation assignements can be improved,
just wanted to inform labrat about the new functionality
I think this new way of selecting multiple clips for changing parameters is good for editing purposes, but not for live tweaking were you would want for example to nudge two clips indepently.
and I also want to be able to asign one knob to multiple parameters
there is some kind of workarround:
Assigning the default clip quantize to 1bar for every clip in preferences alow me to have the global quantize set to any value for nudging.
This way the clips are launch correctly in sync without worrying about constantly resetting the global quantize from 1/8 to 1bar everytime.
but there is still a problem with that when recording new clips, because the record stop is still quantized to the global setting, not the default clip setting.

yeah i want a better handling for scrubbing too. And, of course, the scrubbing needs to NOT be quantized by the global value....

You are right on point. My major problem is that I use Live in live performances to do all-live looping with instruments, so my sets start out with zero clips, everything is recorded live. As you astutely noted, that means I pretty much need the global set to 1bar at all times to make the live recording as easy as possible, so the thought of changing the global quantize every time I want to scrub (then forgetting to change it back before recording) is negatory.envyro wrote:there is some kind of workarround:
