Using LIVE8 on stage with rockband --> questions

Post by tommiu » Sun Dec 23, 2012 1:15 pm

hello,

after we switched from using logic to ableton live on stage, i've got some questions:

i use the "session view", each scene is for one song. in each scene there are 3 audio tracks (keys, samples..)
all routed to FOH (master out)
the metronome is routed to 3/4, wich targets to the drummers in ear.

so the 23 scenes are like the setlist of our gig.

question1:
how can i automatically STOP the current scene, after the longest/latest clip ends? i can see the play button on top still activated, not that bad, but i would like to STOP the scene after the last clip ends....

question2:
sometimes, in the end of a song, there is no click needed, because the outro is getting slower and slower, and a click makes our drummer crazy in this situation.... is there a way either to give a command, that the metronom stops at one point, without stopping the whole scene, oder is there a way to make individual midi tracks with different lenghts for each scene...

ok..i hope my english is good enough so that you guys can understand what my problems are. i am sure there must be at least ONE superuser out there with the right answer..

thanks and merry xmas

Q1. Depending on what actually would like to do.
You may just activate the conditional automation in the clip w/ bar counter and stop command
or simply turn off the loop mode, so when the clip reaches end, it just stops

Q2. changing the main tempo in session view is still kinda pain in the ass, there is a ability to rewrite the tempo for scenes, but still they have to be launched by hand (at least it was like that until L9beta - didn't check it in there yet).
so You may slow down the master tempo by hand and for another song put in a tempo macro inside the scene launch slot (master channel)
or simply turn off (or slide the volume down) the click in order not to annoy the drummer.

I'd would programm a click on my own, make a miditrack with a clicksound of your choice, for every scene, route this to output 3/4...

or

give your drummer a little midi controller(-pad). He hits the pad to enable or disable the Live click on his own...

SORRY SORRY SORRY for answering so late...
all of your advices helped me a little, youtube too.

i could not find a final solution to stop my scenes automatically...but no worries, we had our first gig using live, everything worked fine and the fact it doesnt stop i did not care... the clips where finished, live was still in play modus..but as soon i pressed enter, the next scene started...

thanks again and late: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!

For the scene stopping, I would think that if you were to add a "stop" follow action to each of the clips this should stop them when they finish.
Mah soundcloud!
If you decide to go listen, leave me some feedback.
