Vinyl significantly raises the noise floor and adds distortion and that is a highly popular format for DJs...

CD quality, but almost half size. Plus you get cower and proper tags.

20 years pro dj experience here. My own tracks I play 24bit/44.1khz
I play arround the globe on "top of the line" PAs like Fuction One. And I
would not dare to play any lesser audio quality then 16/44.1
If you are a pro, in the sence you get payed at popular venues and you
have fans that perhaps have traveled a long way to here you,
being a pro means you dont want to risk letting the audience down
in any way you can. Double backups, triple cables etc. You give your best.

I use Traktor. If you use CDs you dont need to bother with Flac.
Since Traktor can play Flac, and since I only have a 256 gb SSD,
it makes sence to save some storage. That, and you usually get
cower graphics taged for you, if you buy/download Flac.

I wish Beatport and other bigies would sell ready made Flacs.
They only sell wav and mp3s, so I have to convert wavs to Flac.
Often the cower graphics on Beatport is shity quality, so I have to
google search or go through discogs to get readable/usable cowers.
And the most painfull part is having to load every single cower, one
by one inside Traktor.
try dj-shop.at they have mp3, flac, wav and mp4 for every track and the prices are 1,49 € in most cases, much cheaper than beatport. you can install a musicloader which sorts your bought tracks when you download them.

I think it was more the fact that you dragged a 9-month old topic from the grave.

I agree though, and also I don't even see why it should be a relevant question - pretty much all reputable online retailers of music for DJs don't sell anything below 320kbps or maybe 256. I didn't think even pirates would be messing about with 128-192kbps in this day and age. Pirating shows a lack of respect for your scene and craft and so does playing shit quality files, so the combination of the two, let's just say 2 wrongs don't make a right...

you´re welcome!

the shop looks a bit complicated in the beginning but it´s only the first impression ;) flacs are already tagged when you download them as a .zip

i tried many shops and in the end it was the best one :D

one other thing to mention, is that even if differences seems very subtle on mp3 vs wav or flac,

they will appear more drasticly when 'processing' the file, like tweaking freaquencies.

it's like .jpg vs raw. it seems every time fairly correct but as soon as you color correct or tweak levels the
awful artefacts appears quicly.
