Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
nothing special about it. maybe for someone in market for a new keyboard, but even in such case, there's plenty of keyboards.
I'd swap my sl 25mk2 for a 37-key version without a doubt. Can't find a decent 37 keyboard with such features - there's the niche, imho.
BTW - who else thinks a controller like the fragment of launchkey on the picture below would make novation a lot of money?

What makes it different is the integration with the iPad apps. As in, you can use this keyboard to control your iPad.
This is really cool to me, considering I don't like carrying my computer around everywhere.

Crap! My GAS is coming on strong.
I didn't read about this yet haha, does it also work with iPhone??
Now that I posted that... from my iPhone...... I'm going to go click on the link and look.
Edit: oh, I see. Camera connection kit style.

Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
looks kinda crappy
Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
Sooo... the Launchpad app....... Is that a sorta-kinda Ableton emulation? As in loops IN the app?????
Edit: kinda reading as I go... Velocity sensitive pads

Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
Interestingly no mention of Automap, only "InControl", whatever that is. Wonder if they're moving away from AutoMap?
Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
2 rows of a LP isnt really usefull i think
Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
Was my first thought too. If they had squeezed in 4 rows then it would have made all the difference.Timbeaux wrote:2 rows of a LP isnt really usefull i think
Haven't read the details - are the pads touch sensitive? I'm guessing not but that would balance things out a bit I suppose.
Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
a matrix of 4x4 would be much nicer
Re: Novation's Launchkey Keyboard
You can control your iPad with ANY keyboard. It's true that some of them need AC power.
As a matter of fact I have a hub connected to the iPad, which hosts keys, pads, audio interface.

Can you control an iPad with a launchpad? Assuming you have a powered hub and the camera cable or whatever?alex.buga wrote:You can control your iPad with ANY keyboard. It's true that some of them need AC power.

Btw, video of the launchkey... pretty undescriptive. Intrigued about the launchpad app though.

Yep, the Launchpad app sounds like a simple iPad ableton session view
I assume that we can substitute those "high quality loops" for our own content. The Novation Launchpad is an app for iPad that enables you to make beats and music instantly. It's packed full of high quality loops and sounds that can be combined in the multi-colour 8x6 Launchpad grid to make and remix music. The built-in time stretching always keeps you locked in to the beat, so your loops don't go out of time.
Eight volume sliders allow quick volume changes and FX modes offer DJ effects such as beat-repeaters and synced filter effects, creating interesting ways to remix your music and make your performance unique. The app follows some of the key features from the amazing 'Launchpad' hardware, now used by many of the worlds famous DJs and performers.
