Betting on the Updates

Post by bobland » Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:52 pm

Right now, I can buy an upgrade from Live 9 standard to Live 9 suite with a free upgrade to Live 9 Suite, for $284. Some posts say this is available for $234 but I don't see that using any browser. Ableton.com says my upgrade to Live 9 Suite is $399. Big difference.

A lot of you "old timers" are saying there will be a "special" discount for current users. Do I wait for the special or upgrade now?

I spoke with the local Guitar Center manager. He said he thinks Live 9 will be sold on the 11th but couldn't give me a firm date. He also said they have a 12% discount for Push but that's not until March.

What would you do?

At a minimum wait until the damn thing is at least actually released. :x

My browser shows $284. If I found it at $234 I'd buy it now.

My upgrade price is $234, I was under the impression that the lower price was due to me already being an owner of Max for Live.

ah, I was wondering if it might be that. Cheers.
I have the same deal.. so is this then the final price for those of us with Suite & MAX for Live? or are we still waiting on special pricing upon release? ...having Suite, the OIC and M4L the $234 price still seems fairly steep...

You have Live8 standard? If yes, then 284 is your final price.

The special upgrade price on release will be only for Suite 8 owners.

It's because Suite owners can't take advantage of the "25% discount and a free upgrade to Live 9" offer - so they have promised a special deal for suite owners when it is released.

there is an offer to get Max for Live at 25% discount - but not with a free upgrade to 9 - alas.

Would be interesting to see who gets the cheapest upgrade path, e.g. what if you are already just "one license short of a full suite"

The cheapest was the flop on the announcement day: 195 from standard to suite.

that wouldn't mean a good deal though. that would be more like bleeding money slowly over time... like a credit card with high interest.

anyone who has purchased all, or almost all, of the components of Suite separately should get an autographed picture of Gerhard Behles with a thank you note.

you're right of course - to get to that position you would have to be certifiably insane

Mine said 209, it has for a while.
However there was a thread a while back where people were comparing thier price but also listing what they bought.
For example whats the difference in upgrade price if you bought add ons, vs Standard by itself.

anyways, I just upgraded.
I still see a future with it.
