Post some newish 80's synth pop inspired shit

I'm really digging that this is making a comeback.

My examples:

Kate Boy - Northern Lights

Charli XCX - Nuclear Seasons

This young band from Melbourne ('City Calm Down') have some hot synth based songs and are showing a lot of 80's influences, yet they are also fresh and original. I love the keyboard players set up: a Moog Voyager and a Roland Juno 60...Classic!!!

Great band! Home recorded and self marketed through iTunes and Utube :-)

It’s probably been making a slow come back for even longer than that (thus the “newish” in the title), but the songs I like are few and far between and I really don’t know how to find more. So I made this thread.

…but now I’m at work so I can’t listen. :x But I’ll be checking out the posts later. :)

There were some cool tracks shared here, but there were also a lot that sounded like they were inspired by the crap they put in 80's movies before some genius had the bold idea to use music by artists that people actually already know and like. So I was bouncing between "The 80's, fuck ya!" and "Fuck the 80's!" :x

This thread wouldn't be complete without some Cut Copy

Or Ghostland Observatory

That pretty much summed up the 80's. The only difference is the crappy synth pop was touted as 'cutting edge' by it's fans when you mentioned it was mediocre.
Can't do that now. :x

Probably should have known given the nature of the forum that some of the music shared would sound more like analog synth demos more than something you’d actually buy and listen to, but then again some people actually like that stuff. So what do I know.

I can’t youtube at work, but I’m not ashamed to admit I like commercial pop (from whatever decade) so I was looking for a little more Depeche Mode and a little less Axel F. I also don’t celebrate Kraftwerk music across the board.
