does the magical 8bit plugin run with ableton live?
And if so, how in the world do I set it up?
I've already downloaded it and I have been trying to get the plugin working for the past 3 hours with no luck. Please help if you can.

Put the .dll in your VSTs folder, and it should automatically detect

If not, click Rescan in preferences. If that still doesn't do it, hold Alt and click Rescan.

I must be an idiot. I'm sorry, I also forgot to mention that I'm using a Mac.

I followed that set up directions right down to the components folder, but I was not able to drag and drop the Magical 8bit plugin Universal Binary component into the components folder, nor was I able to drop anything into the VST folder. :(

Hi, i am experiencing the same problem... Can anyone please explain how to correctly install the AU and get it running in Live? I copied the extracted folder into the respective VST/AU folder and scanned, but it didn't work.
I've got a MAC btw... thanks!

I got it working as an Audio Unit. all you have to do is download this app called Automap. When i installed it, restart Ableton, then rescan the folders in the preferences section and you should find it in AU Plugins under YMCK.

PS. I'm 90% sure it's free, but i maybe wrong.... CHECK IT OUT!

Link to AutoMap: https://us.novationmusic.com/software/automap#

Hope I solved your problem!

Hi DJB3NJ!
I tried it with Automap and it doesn't work :(
YMCK is not recognized in AU folder, even in the native AU.
Kind regards.

I forgot to mention that you need to install the magical 8-bit as an AU component MANUALLY

To do this, you must put the Magical 8-bit Component into this folder: [ Macintosh HD/ Library/ Audio/ Plug-ins/ Componets]

Restart Ableton & Automap, go into the Automap's Software Setup, go under AU, and you should see it at the very bottom

Then ALT + Rescan, and the plugin should appear!!!

FINALLY PROBLEM SOLVED
