Suite 8 -> Live 9? Who is going down this route?

Discuss music production with Ableton Live.

I am probably swinging towards...

None, gonna stick with Suite 8 for now

I voted 'Suite + M4L to Suite' only because the prices for upgrade are $199 for Suite or $159 for Live. For just 40 bucks, I guess I'll take the extra pre-sets. Is there any other difference?? From what I've been reading the extra presets are the only difference for Suite + M4L owners vs. going straight to Live. Does anyone know if that's true??

I voted for Suite to Live 9 :)

As I'm not interested in extra sounds and M4L.Seems silly to pay the extra for stuff your not going to use!

I use rewire to Live ,and that gives me all the sounds,I want :D

And if I need a live pack,I would buy one,but only if I used it often.Or maybe buy a VsT as an option too!

I'm also waiting to hear from David, to confirm that I keep all my existing instruments within my Live 8 Suite

seen the posting before, but just to firm up what was mentioned

...i'll go from suite to suite.....

but i wonder if there'll be a boxed version for this intension....
i don't use most of the add on sounds i have within suite 8.....and 9 won't change much about that, but i'll take that content anyway....if i don't have to download it....
so is there a boxed update from suite to suite for this 199 euro upgrade price.....?

However, as a triple-checker type myself I know what you mean!
Yep,I kind of nervous about this too,Funken, and like to re check several times :?

Seems to good to be true.
I won't be very impressed, (as some people, taking my route too)if I went down the suite to Live 9standard route, only then to discover I cannot use my Suite 8 devices,in Live 9 standard

Suite + M4L to Standard Live 9

Mainly because I don't at this stage need more sounds

And my setup (my library lives in the cloud) means that I don't want an unnecessarily large library.

s8 with m4l -> s9

the more I use the beta the more I like it

some of the features I at first thought were not that much use have proven to be well thought out additions that are proving very useful

I want to start using m4l again and I think this is the direction that Ableton will go in and make it work better and better

I use Operator and Sampler and also Corpus so it makes sense for me to take Live 9 Suite.

I went from Live7 to Suite9 (mostly for M4L, but having access to the .ALSes that use Operator etc is helpful also).
Too bad I could not vote ;)

You don't need Suite 9 to keep using Operator and Sampler etc. Obviously if you're buying it to get Max as well, that's a different story. But you sound as if you already have Max, so again you don't need Suite for that.
Not according to the Ableton Website which I just checked again.

If I upgrade to Live 9 standard I will have access to only Impulse , Simpler and drum rack - this makes sense to me - how do you know this is wrong?e

I'm going Suite 8 to Suite 9. I basically only use internal Ableton stuff, so the more sound content I can get in that format, the better. Shit, I paid $99 just for one of the e-instruments pianos. For $90, this is an absolute ton of sounds. Max is the cherry on top, that convolution reverb effect is just fantastic.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but going from Live 8 non-suite+M4L to Live 9 Suite is going to fetch $700. And there's no way of upgrading M4L without Suite. That's a major change in price point for someone who has been doing a basic upgrade since 2

Trap Music should stay at the dog racing track where it belongs.

I'm pretty sure I'm just sticking with Suite 8 for the time being.

Not sure I have much need for Max & I don't have a clue what is really offered beyond Max in the new release that I could use.

I see things like it has more GB of "Sounds" but uh, could you be a little more specific?? Like an itemized list or some group sound categories or something to that effect... that doesn't require scrolling the screen the length of the Dead Sea Scrolls

Thus far haven't seen anything that justifies me paying $250 (for my particular DAW needs)

Actually I love Suite 8 & I'm guessing I will eventually just upgrade to 9 Standard - I think the $159 seems like a decent price as long as I can keep what I already have

But I would like the developers to get all the kinks ironed out first & get more details from users as to *what* exactly is new & improved - beyond the look

Unfortunately, the main website (aside from being much more difficult to navigate now) isn't answering many of my questions

Still a loyal user, just a bit frustrated
