Live 9 install questions
When I download live 9 update will it automatically overwrite/combine with live 8. If not will the library combine itself or will I have to point the new browser to it?
Re: Live 9 install questions
I just got a reply back from Ableton support about this - hope it helps
Hello Rex,
Even when you have Live 8 installed before there will be 2 libraries.
It will not merge.
Live 9 is totally independent, so is its library.
The instructions i gave you in my last mail will just save you time in installing Live 8.
Regards,
Florian

Re: Live 9 install questions
Further to op s question.
I'll be upgrading from suite8 to 9.
Live 9's download is huge 55gb (i think).
Will it be possible to store all the sample content
on an external drive or does the library have to be
all in the same place?

Re: Live 9 install questions
Whatever is part of the library, including add-in packs, will most likely go into the library. 55GB is nothing, my Komplete 8 was like 90-110GB for the libraries/content. Disk space is pretty cheap unless you running on SSD's. Someone is running their live 8 library (only library) in a dropbox account that he is using between a laptop and desktop. You can put it wherever you want but remember one thing, drive letter changes depending when you add anything to your system. Could be problematic, or maybe not.7redBl@dder wrote:Further to op s question.

Personally If I upgrade I am going boxed so I have hard copy of it. But still on the fence....and have to choose before the 12th if I am going to take the plunge and drop more coin on audio software....
