Been blending a mix-tape in Live, and was wondering ...
To ensure I keep all the tracks I use in this mix (when making backups/reinstalling OS/...), is it sufficient that I store them in a self-created folder within the project folder, or do they always have to reside in the default "Samples" folder?
thx in advance,
S.

Collect all and save for minimum headache and maximum reliability.
Re: Storing mp3/wav files within Project Folder
do a 'Collect All & Save'
that will bring all the samples into a the project folder. there will be options in case you choose to omit, say... library samples for instance.

Re: Storing mp3/wav files within Project Folder
Thx for the advice!
* On the other hand, could I just trust my file manager when it states that (most of) my music files are located in "current project"?
* When I do go for the "save and collect" option, I suppose the mp3s/wavs end up in the samples folder. In that case, can I safely delete the folders I created myself? (thus saving valuable HD space, I'm working on an 2.5h mix with lots of wavs, so project folder already amounts to 6GB.)

Collect All & Save will save the active content... being used in Live, to the project folder.
so, if you have a lot of say botched vocal takes or guitar redos, for example, it will not pull those in unless they are currently in the project.
the way to shrink the project folder would be to
create a new folder
with the project open 'Save As' to the new folder
then perform the Collect All & Save
at that point it will only save the elements being used in the song to your new folder.
