(45850165) ableton index process problem still alive

Post by BioMech » Sat Mar 09, 2013 3:04 pm

Hi,

As previously described in the "getsatisfaction" Live 9 beta forum (which seems to not be available now), I observe problem with "ableton index" process on Win7x64.

sometimes Live freezes during some minutes when :
- saving a set
- starting live
- sometimes when clicking on browser

As before, freeze stops when ableton index process is killed... but no more content is indexed so it is necessary to use windows explorer to start ableton sets that are not yet indexed...

I also notice that Live 9 startup is always longer than Live 8 : startup may last one minute before responding.

problem occured on pre Live9 beta, LIve 9.01, 9.02b1.
these sets worked without problem with Live 8

Best,

Configuration :
WIn 7x64 / core i7 / 6GB RAM
MB : gygabyte GA-X58A UD3R
Graphics : ATI Radeon HD4600
soundcard : EDIROL UA-101

VST and VSTi : from Native instruments, Melda Productions, Fxpansion, toontrack, XLN audio, FAW, AAS, kuassa, cakewalk, sugar bytes, izotope, waves, image-line, rob papen... sometimes, some plugins are jbridged
latest Avast free antivirus
bome's midi translator through native kontrol for APC40 (apC) and padkontrol (pKC) tools
loopmidiport
Windows 11 - Core i7 13700K - Focusrite Clarett+ 8 pre - Ableton Push 2 - Roli seaboard rise - Ni komplete kontrol S61 - Akai APC40 - Akai APC20

Confirmed win 7 x64, often takes a minute to start which feels like forever...
DAWS: Live 11 Suite + PUSH2, Studio One, Bitwig and Reason all via an X32 desk: Instruments: modular and analogue stuff, guitars, basses and drums.

Please review my post here:

Indexing is apparently a requirement for the Ableton browser and is eating my drive life spinning BAD with no results.

I am finding cached google information "removed" by Ableton.

My post is to get one of two results :

Added this thread to a performance optimization we had in que.

Tracked, but will keep the thread open for others to chime in.

On all versions it is still a problem and still slow.
I open projects on live 8 and it is a dream :D
I open projects on live 9 and it is

Win 7 x64

It doesn't seem to matter if it is a large or small set either. Live 9 just seems to get constipated with loading....buffer buffer buffer buffer.

Just chiming in as frustrated
