Browser Live 9 automatically closing Folders. Please stop!

Post by zeepster » Wed Mar 13, 2013 9:05 pm

*Post updated march 14th*

Browsing through samples, Live 9's Browser automatically closes folders when i'm opening another folder below that.

So i.e. my root is Samples\, i'm browsing in my Samples\Percussion\Kicks folder auditioning kicks. Then i scroll to a map below in Samples\Stabs\synth for a nice stab to add to the groove. Now i decide to try another kick, Live 9 has closed the Samples\Percussion\Kicks folder and i have to re-open them all again, scrolling and clicking.

In Live 8 i could simply scroll up and down and have all folders open i choosed.
With this new browser behavior Live 9 is working AGAINST workflow. During important creational parts of songbuilding when sounds should be instantly available.

*edit march 14*
Another thing, the Plugin, Instrument and Audio Efects folders. Live 9 also closes these. You're making it hard for me to quickly mousewheeel up&down my favorite vst's and audio effects and drag them in the arrangement.
CTRL+clicking everything all the time is horrible counterproductive really. Please add an otion to MIRROR CTRL+Click behavior so the Default is "Everything stays open like Live 8". I'd rather have everything remain open just how i left it. Even after Quit and restart Live.

Abes, can you please make this behavior optional?? I'd like to turn it all off.

Thanks

I prefer the new behaviour actually, each to their own I guess!

I hate this aspect of the new browser, I admit it. Drives me CRAZY! So annoying trying to get to my plug ins or to compare samples now.

They need to realize that when the preferred behavior is pretty much 50/50 among users they need to make it a... preference.

I'd prefer this to be a setting in Preferences that can be toggled on/off (with CMD clicking still operational of course)

Both methods (folders close automatically & multiple folders remain open) are useful in different situations.

OP updated march 14th.

This request goes for all folders. Plugins, Audio Effects, Instruments, my own Wav folders etc.
Keep them all open where i need them to be open. You're creating a lot of extra work for me, forcing more user actions, breaking my workflow. Now i can't quickly mousewheel-scroll to my favorite vst, audio fx, instrument and drag it into the arrangement because Live is forcing me to re-open everything all the time. Carefully ctrl+clicking all the time doesn't work.

Mirror CTRL+Click behavior please! And put it as an option in options.txt

Please change this!

When I copied my Live 8 Library to the new PC for Live 9, Explorer indicated there were 92,703 items and 93.1 GB of data. [sarcasm] Just the other day I was thinking,

"Ya know, this would be a lot easier if I could only access ONE ITEM AT A TIME, and then Hunt-and-Peck my way to the next item, and the next, [ : and the next : ]"

I got my wish! Now, one hand on the mouse, one hand on the Ctrl key, one hand on the midi controller . . .
