*bump*

might be a good idea to post a link to this thread on the beta forum guys, so they are aware of it and the apparent solution

i also deleted my prefs...
it just slightly improved performance but the problem basically still remains.

are l4 & l5 installed on the same machine conflicting regarding this point?

any official input???

i also checked my ram utilization using the same set on l4 & l5

l4 = 520mb (this is my physical available ram)
l5 = 670mb (this is bigger than my physical ram = swapfile = add. diskload)

i think its about ram ... me off buying ram 8)

regards

hi all
just to let you know ...

deleted preferences & added ram.
all problems are gone!

live5 runs very fast ...

my guess:
if your machine is starting to swap physical memory
(which contains samples or sampeldata) to the hd
it produces glitches and dropouts while reading the swapfile
... 'cause reading from hd takes much more time than reading from ram.

thanks for all your replies...
take care

Question Please Advise..

I'm gonna just be humble here--cause even after using a mac for 20 years or so and doing all kinds of crazy system stuff, I can't for the life of me find my Live Preferences. Not in the system preferences folder if that's what you're thinking. Unless they're named something wierd. Can anyone help a brother out here. I'm running 10.4.2 I have 756 of Ram, but I may need to up that?

Just found 'em. Of course, why wouldn't they be someplace wierd. My brain is so full trying to get this studio up and running it's a wonder I can remember how to play guitar (or tie my shoes for that matter). Luckily it's warm here in Chic. and I;ve been wearing sandles. The easiest way to figure something out yourself--put up a post. Now let's see what that does --Fingers crossed.
