How can I keep those final halls?

Post by Dandy Dust » Sun Mar 17, 2013 5:31 pm

Hi there!

When I stop my arrangement at the final beat the halls I use will fade out the song nicely.

Unfortunately I don´t know how to preserve this "effect" for the final mixdown. (it will just cut off).

Anybody got an idea how I can keep that "natural" fade?

It heavily depends on how you setup your mixdown. I'm a bit puzzled here because normally the arrangement will continue playing until you stop it, so my first comment would be "stop the arrangement (global transport) at a later time".

But as said; this heavily depends on how you set things up. If you automated a lot for example then perhaps adding a new track with a dummy clip on it could help; make the clip long enough to "contain" the whole fade out of the beat.
With kind regards,

Tnx Sheluser!

That throws out the question how I would make all those keyboars, plugins and so on stop at the same time,
while not stopping the main-Live cue... to be able to still record the after-hall of (lets say) the different
plugin halls... mh.

aah, NOW I get the problem. Yeah, I was thinking in the lines of "stop playing, then the sound stops" while totally overlooking the fact that sometimes your music plays itself (so to speak).

I think the easiest option would be to solo the "hall beat" track. It'll mute everything but this track, thus will allow for the hall fade to be played. After its completely done you can then turn the whole thing off (main transport).

Of course this won't work if there are also several other tracks still active during that moment, in which case you might be able to use groups. If you group several tracks together then muting them is merely an issue of disabling the group track.

Hope this can give some ideas.

Just set the Arrangement loop brace so it captures all the sound, then it will be present on export.

Yeah, that caught me the first time I exported. There's probably a few tricks around that, but I just extend a deactivated clip an extra bar or two.

Hi all!
Solutions sometimes are so simple that it causes a smile:

I stop the WHOLE (last) scene but not the main Recording - let the halls "fade out" (whatsoever) and only after that stop the recording!

Maybe the question is to simple after all!

Another way of capturing fortuitous 'mistakes' or 'effects' is to have software like 'Snapz Pro X' (OSX) run to capture any current audio streams and then import those into your Live arrangement.
