Trap Music
Re: Trap Music
I don't really see much point in holding on to the musical past. Music evolves, I evolve with it. Sometimes old music I used to like sounds shitty to me now. Sometimes new music sounds shitty to me now. Really what does it matter, shitty music now is shitty music now. Every genre has some, some genres have more than others. Some genres only have good music in-between the development and commercialization stages. Like dubstep, I found it boring as shit at first. Then a few years went by and some cool stuff starting coming out. Then it went all commercial and got shitty again. Then some elements of that got meshed into other genres and that's starting to sound real good. Rinse, repeat.

maybe I've just been hypnotised by this bit ^ian_halsall wrote:..ample breasted assistants.
actually as someone who's wasted a good portion of my life on electronic music and beatz, while we're on riffs or beatz that would need mythbusting, this one probably needs some acknowledgement:

daresay I've probably used that drum loop a few times over the last 20 years

well, see I see it the other way round... dubstep probably ended with Burial for meDonnie wrote:..Like dubstep, I found it boring as shit at first. Then a few years went by and some cool stuff starting coming out. ..
after that it became "bro step"
Re: Trap Music
It's not that I hate Trap, actually I don't mind it. I don't like shitty producers for one thing, and I don't like how it's called EDM.ian_halsall wrote:You may not like Trap Music but clearly some/quite a lot of people do.
I was at a hotel party, one of my kinda friends was talking to someone on the phone. "Yeah, I'm going to the show... I don't know it's some wolfgang gardener???? I don't know his name exactly it's some dubstep show."
I mentally facepalmed and nodded my head in agreement.
I don't agree saying "you're one genre", there is no room for progression. I don't like the people that make music stupid... That and it's just a bunch of swagsters drinking PBR, thinking they aren't mainstream... when in fact they are.

Burial been doing dubstep since what 2005 and is still putting out tracks? That's pretty much the entire duration of dubstep isn't it?Forge. wrote:well, see I see it the other way round... dubstep probably ended with Burial for meDonnie wrote:..Like dubstep, I found it boring as shit at first. Re: Trap Music
Eh, as someone who lives in the music research world, I doubt it. Not impossible, but certainly less probable than finding undiscovered masterpieces from Bach's time. The field of musicology exploded in the 19th and 20th centuries and thus we've got a pretty good handle on who the badasses were in the 20th century art music scene.ian_halsall wrote:I am sure there will be great things from the age of Irving Berlin which will get discovered in 200 years time which will be comparable to Bach.
