In Ableton's "New features" explanation, it says "Automation can now be created in both audio and MIDI clips in the Session View".
I don't understand how to record session automation on to an audio clip.
For instance, if I put autofilter in to a MIDI channel, enable Session automation (by clicking automation arm, session record, and arm track record), and then tweak the autofilter parameters, the automation is recorded in to the MIDI clip. I can view/edit this in the clip's envelope tab.
If I do the same thing for an audio clip, the autofilter automation will not record on to the clip's envelope tab. I can only record to the arrange view, and not the clip itself.
It seems like there must be a simple answer to this which has evaded me. Can anyone help shine light on this?

By default the automations are recorded only into armed tracks. You can change this in your preferences in order to be able to record on any playing clip without arming.

Oh!! So you can only record session automation in to audio clips when you enable Session automation for "All Tracks" in preferences. Got it working now, thanks! I wish that new feature was more intuitive.Valiumdupeuple wrote:By default the automations are recorded only into armed tracks. No, that just means that you don't have to arm a track in order to record automations into its clips. Which is quite different.Oh!!
