Exporting audio
Exporting audio
I want to export a song in live 9. In ableton 8 I would go into arrange view select my timeline and export no problem. In live 9 it seems to want to export my session view not my arrange view, every time I export the orange arrow lights up at the top of the screen meaning its in session view. Please help me export my arrange view, Thanks!
Re: Exporting audio
Basically when I export the orange arrow lights up to re activate automation, how do I export without automation turning off?
Re: Exporting audio
I think you're suppose to press those orange arrows(back to arrangement button) to have your tracks play what on the arrangement view and not the session view. then just export the selection as you normally would.
Re: Exporting audio
Yea I press the arrows and they turn off everything plays fine but when I export they come back onTRB DJ wrote:I think you're suppose to press those orange arrows(back to arrangement button) to have your tracks play what on the arrangement view and not the session view. then just export the selection as you normally would.

Anyone? this is driving me crazy
Re: Exporting audio
sorry. i keep checking this thread... i'm curious myself. it wasn't until i read your first post that i realized i haven't exported anything with Live 9 yet. i tested the new features out in the beta, i upgraded, i have worked on some tracks and tested most of what is in my workflow, but no export... i would like to finish something eventually though...
i'll keep checking back. if you haven't got an answer by the time i get home to my DAW i'll have a go and see if i can help you get it sorted.

Re: Exporting audio
Seems to be affecting fab filter pro q, all other automatons seem to work.
Re: Exporting audio
hey sorry to not get back to you sooner... i ended up having company for dinner... so it's late but i happened to have a Live set open that i worked on with a vocalist on Saturday. i did a quick test and here is how that breaks down:
i successfully exported with no issues.
BUT... it was all done in Arrange view. so there were no clips.
i popped into session and pulled a clip out of the Clips section in the browser.
i, again, successfully imported with no issues.
i know this doesn't answer you question, but it helps to whittle it down and it bumps the thread.
do you have any automation set up?
what about plugins, do you have any VSTs running? is M4L open?

Re: Exporting audio
Yes I have manual automation lines set up, using m4l massive sylenth fab filter etc, Issue seems to be mainly with pro q I have no idea why though.
Re: Exporting audio
Ok I uploaded a video so you don't think I'm insane. You can see where my pro q automation blacks out every time I export and Those damn arrows come back on.

Re: Exporting audio
Tech support advised that I route into another audio track record and then bounce which seems very arduous compared to bouncing in live 8. Would I loose any kind of quality in doing that?
Re: Exporting audio
i don't think you would loose any audio quality unless the source material is a higher bit rate than the set... but you were trying to export it anyway, so the short answer is: no.

Thanks for the help, any ideas when you looked at the video?H20nly wrote:i don't think you would loose any audio quality unless the source material is a higher bit rate than the set... but you were trying to export it anyway, so the short answer is: no.
Re: Exporting audio
no, i'm at the office right now so i generally avoid streaming... doing so allows me the luxury of access to the rest of the web without popping up on any high usage reports.
i was certain that the answer to the audio quality question is no, so posting that was all the help i can offer with the information i have. i'm actually surprised that no one else has chimed in here... but having said that, the nature of your issue is all the more complicated by the outside elements...
do you have Massive in rewire mode by chance?
have you tried this?..
File > Save As
give the set a new name
using this [new] version of the set... try to export again.
if error persists... remove a (as in one) of the outside elements such as Pro Q, M4L, Massive, or Sylenth
try to export again
close [new] set
re-open [new] set
remove a different VST or application
rinse
repeat
this is all to identify the problem, troubleshooting mode, so the purpose of the exercise, right now, isn't necessarily to export your [original] set in perfect working order, but to find the element that is confusing matters.
