Live 9 crashes regularly for me
Is this the case for anyone else? I've sent Ableton probably 12 crash reports (a number of reports I have not bothered to send). How is Live 9 working out for everyone else?

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
often when closing a project or closing ableton live 9.
The real bad thing with this: it was the same in the last beta revisions and still the same with final release...
I'm talking about crashes happening several times A DAY.
Previously, I had taken the time to report and explain but late evasive answers was the only response.
Why sending reports if they do nothing out of it and give you the feeling you are in the fog [like they are?]
I'm quite disappointed and my next gig for end of may 2013 will surely be set in live 8.
Thus leading me with the appeal from bitwig

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
People who are experiencing crashes: are you using a Mac or PC? 32-bit or 64-bit version?
I use 64bit Live9 in Windows7 and I haven't seen many crashes.

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
I am starting to avoid using Live anymore. Pretty sad, but it is just so frustrating to have these crashes EVERY time I sit down to make some music. It might happen in the first 5 minutes, or it may come at the 2.5 hour mark, but I always expect Live to crash.
That "HandleStageOne" is ALWAYS the message that is shown. The real lame part is that the crash doesn't have any rhyme or reason, just randomly crashing so there is no way to lock down a specific thing I'm doing that causes it.
Win7 64bit
Live 9.02 32bit
Most recent crash was trying to open official M4L device "Kasio".
I've been a Live user since 1.2... I would take less features if it meant increased stability any day!

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
Have you tried using 64bit Live?
Some old M4L devices do not work properly with Live9. There may be newer versions of some those that do work.
Kasio is one of those that has known problems with Live9, but a fix is in progress.

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
Yeah Tone, that is my next step (really, my last resort to be honest).
I have sent a support ticket off and referenced this and another forum thread. I will let you know what they say.

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
mac 64bit using 9.0.2 - dont bother sending reports because THEY NEVER REPLY TO ME.
Anyone else waiting for bitwig and looking foward to saying GOODBYE to ableton forever.. ?
i am.. used since version 4 and ever since version 8 ive been thinking.. hang on.. they are grasping to the original build of this.. tiny tweaks here and there.. squeezing every last penny cent euro out of their code.
DESIGN LIVE FROM THE GROUND UP and FIX the SHIT.

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
Well, I uninstalled 9 32bit and have installed 9 64bit. Built a loop using 8 different 64bit 3rd party plugs each playing their own midi loop. I let it run playing for 1.5 hours....
No crashes. Keeping my fingers crossed. Perhaps 64bit will improve stability? I suppose I can run v8 in 32bit for my non 64bit plugs. The set pushes a newly built i7 3820 to 60% cpu, so it's crunching some numbers for sure!
I'll let you all know when it crashes and why!
Schmidi
UPDATE: I've just had a CRASHLESS click through of each and every M4L FX plug in my library while the sequencer was running. This included dragging FX from one active track onto another, with no crashes. That is at least promising. Makes me wonder if some crash prone element of the 32bit code did not get transferred into the 64bit code?

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
thank you for let us know your test shmidi.
And ableton people urged us NOT to use 64bit version of live 9 unless we had memory issues.
Your report clearly prooves the opposite.

Re: Live 9 crashes regularly for me
Well, its too early to say, only ran it for 3 hours this morning, and what works for me might not work for the next person. I'll update to this thread if anything comes up.
