i swear i was able to select a midi track in session view and play notes with my mpk49 without record enabling the track. now i have to hit the record enable button to preview notes from the midi track.
is there a way to preview notes without record enabling a track by just selecting the midi track column?
session view midi track preview?
Re: session view midi track preview?
I don't think so, no, not without using the monitor button on the track. I'm fairly certain it has always been this way.

Re: session view midi track preview?
for some reason i remember clicking the column header in session view to turn it blue and then playing midi instruments without record enabled. is there an auto record arm when you click a session column?
not surprising that i dreamt it up. thanks for your reply.

Re: session view midi track preview?
Not possible AFAIK.
And for me just unbelievable that Ableton hasn't implemented this feature.
A simple on/off button for "enable automatic record arm" in preferences for example.
Coming from Logic where a selected track was automatically record enabled and thus hearable when played.
I don't miss Logic but i do miss that feature.
Please Ableton, please ..
